movie,

You probably searched using the link, but just to be clear, those were not all the results for New York - just for a couple of zips I typed in.

If not for Half Baked, I to this day would not know what a bodega is.

Oh yeah I immediately checked my zip. Never thought they'd have store trackers for specific products. Way to go Klondike

Get 'em from ice cream trucks too.

movie,

Of course, bodegas often utilize unofficial distribution channels, so you may have Choco Tacos closer than you know!

I had my first Choco Taco in many years just a week ago from the Hamilton Deli (1129 Amsterdam Ave). Should have been ice-creamier imo.

It wouldn't be that weird, food recommendations are normal and this thread has a ton of asks for regional ff goodies.

And it was the first time he ever heard of Pizza Hut and it was amazing? I don't know, but where I live that would be a bit strange.

Of course, I live in Colorado and California, we are fast food aficionados!

Of all the places in the country I have visited or lived in NYC has to be the biggest fast-food wasteland in the nation. Though I suppose we have the edge in "hip" places to eat and 5 star restaurants.

CA and TX are pretty elite for fast food though ime.

I was more of a Drumstick man than a Choco Taco type.

Frito Pie isn't just Fritos and chili, there's also melted cheese. Split the Frito bag open lengthwise, apply chili and cheese.

I forgot about the pizza hut being good part.

My buddy tried the hot dog crust there and said it was bad and he usually loves bad food like that.

It's chili on top of Fritos. In its simplest and most common form it is served in a sliced open, personal size, bag of Fritos.

Sounds kind of like a walking taco.

Wouldn't the chili melt the bag?

That sounds really unsanitary

Maybe "messy" is a better term.

I'm with kioshk here. The ice cream taco is a great idea - raising the prospect of getting some waffle with every bite, but the execution was bad. The shell was rubbery and there wasn't enough iced cream. Next time I have a lunchtime sweet craving, I'm going back to the standard Klondike bar.

At Ohio State the student cafeteria called Frito Pies "Texas Straw Hats" which I always found amusing.

Can be, I'd prefer they just open the top of the chip bags and load the stuff that way. Works for our version of nacho doritos, taco meat, lettuce, cheese and salsa.

I think you need to clarify the term "wasteland" as I would think the exact opposite is true of NYC fast food.

I'm fifty percent sure I saw a peanut butter choco taco once. Or maybe it was caramel. Or maybe just a lovely dream.
