Grabbed Popeyes for late dinner last night on the way home from the bar.

Golden BBQ Chicken Sandwich (with swiss, bacon and gold bbq sauce) ($7.29) - nothing wrong with any of it, but: a) while the gold BBQ sauce was tasty, I wouldn't say it's a big upgrade over the spicy sauce on the spicy sandwich, or even just mayo; and b) the swiss and bacon was fine, but mostly didn't notice their flavors; also c) I got a chicken breast that had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp for a good while, wasn't at all juicy. Due to A) and B) I wouldn't pay the $1.30 up-charge over a regular or spicy chicken sandwich next time, but glad to have tried it.

Six Signature Hot Wings (I think $6.99) - They're offering six flavors of wings, this was the hottest version (4 fires vs. the Ghost Pepper flavor of 3 fires, which I thought was odd). These tasted pretty good, nice crispy coating then the wing sauce had a little bit of a kick, enough to get my nose running a little. The sauce was also a little sweet - it actually reminded me of the Wendy's saucy nuggets ghost pepper sauce. Awful value compared to the $5.99 original chicken sandwich, but almost everything at Popeye's is awful value other than the sandwich so here we are.

Regular Mac and Cheese ($4.99) - This was a mistake. The flavor was OK, but the texture was way off - it was almost soupy. I'd take their red beans 'n rice, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, and RIP cajun rice all over this mac n cheese 100 times out of 100. It's weird that they charge a 50c upcharge on this vs. the other sides. This will be my last order of Popeyes mac n cheese.

I kind of did the math in my head as I was ordering, but still it was like a slap in the face when the drive thru lady told me "$21.52, please pull forward" - I figured there must have been some mistake. I am just glad I got to spend my teens and twenties back when fast food was full of screaming good values. I can generally afford to drop $20 on a meal without a huge concern now, but this meal wasn't in the same ballpark as worth $20+. It'll be a long while before I'm back.

Soupy is the new mac-n-cheese norm. The corporate whores have realized starting soupier makes for a longer life. I had soupy mac-n-cheese last night and concluded this immediately straight from my bum.

Scored my first "sport team wins, get free food" promo at mcdonalds yesterday - free mcchicken with $2 purchase!!

Got a small fry for like $2.50. Great snack. I was thinkin chinese food, but my cheapskate kicked in, plus the chinese place was across a busy intersection.

Looks unlikely I'll be redeeming all 10 free charburger coupons. 6 days, 7 coupons left. I think I can go for 5, especially now that I know they have good onyon rangs

This thread reminded me I have an Arby's incredibly close that I don't go to enough.

Tried the app, was pleased to see I don't need a dang account just to buy food. Quick and easy. Well done.

Not listed on the menu, but a "2-piece snack" is generally on the register as an insane value. 2 pieces of fried chicken of your choice and a biscuit for $4.99 at my nearest location. I go "spicy, white meat" with a breast and a whole wing, but if you are hungrier, you can ask for two breasts, at least at my regular location.

Cracks me up when I see the poster for a leg and a thigh plus biscuit for $5 only on Tuesdays, or whatever, and meanwhile you can get the same deal, with pieces of your choice, every damn day.

What a scam. Everything is made up.

That is indeed a big step up from basically 3 whole-wings for $7. It's still annoying though that even using that deal, adding one side for $4.50 has you over $10 after-tax for a two-piece-one-side-no-drink meal.

Carls JR has great burgers, maybe better, but more expensive.

havent tried off the grille lately, but seems like a good idea if you have the time.
I must disagree. In n Out and Whataburger are better imo.

Both of these are hyper local chains, at the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Going by taste, BK has anything at innout beat imo. I'd rather a whopper with cheese than a double double, as controversial as that take may be.

Also bks fries are 98x better than in n o

Tried out the Triple Berry Frosty and holy cow is it Berry infused flavor. Glad I tried it out but I prefer the regular frosty.

I'd go Orange Creamsicle >> Regular > Triple Berry

I can get someone thinking In n Out burger patties are too thin or whatever, but I find them tasty, and they perfectly toast the buns to boot.

The varied reactions to In n Out fries I cannot fathom. I guess we all do like different things in our fries.

i was reminded today of Braum's
started OK then quickly tornadoed towards KS, MO, AR, TX

ice cream products are the reason to visit but i remember their burgers being exceptional
curious if others have any recent experience.

I'm from Oklahoma. Braum's used to be super-elite and has slid back a little consistency-wise. Still good, I still stop when I'm in the Braum's zone, but it's not a can't-miss.

There's a Braum's right up the road from me, a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute drive. My mom likes their ice cream and the cool paper bags they use. It has a good rep here among the locals (Springfield, MO). Or should I say yokels! Haha jk, hillbilly humor.

$7 medium big Mac meal in app, replacing the $6 daily double/mcdouble meal.

Might have to make an unscheduled visit
