I'm late here, but I agree this is pretty close to an optimal Portillos order. I would ditch the mozzarella, the simple combo of beef/giardiniera/grease is perfect to me and I dont like to mess with it.

Feel free to swap in a Polish sausage for the Chicago dog, both are equally tasty.

Any Las Vegas folk been to Windy City Beefs'n'Dogs? I hadn't heard of it but googling Portillos lead to the discovery. I'd really like to get one of those beef sandwiches in my ass. And a Chicago dog.

If you can hold off until Friday let me know, I'll join you. I'm driving in to town Thursday night for my 40th bday weekend getaway. I was actually going to hit up you and Mal on here and see if you guys wanted to grab a meal while I was in town. I can't pass up the opportunity to break bread with two FF thread goats! This windy City place sounds like it'll be a perfect meeting spot. I'm a huge Portillos fan so I'm interested in how this place stacks up.

I can now weigh in on the Popeyes chicken sandwich.

Flavorwise, equal or slightly better than cfa IMO.

Bun is superior.

Cajun fries way superior to cfas waffle fries.

$7.99 for combo. Probably a wash.

Spicyness: barely any spice. Cfa wins? Not sure how spicy theirs is.

Did not feel overbreaded or greasy at all.

Overall, satisified. Fulfills any cfa cravings.

10 minute wait at 7pm rush. Cfa probably better in that regard.

Note that most Seattle area cfas are a pain in the butt to get to.

McDonald's launching 'McCafé It Forward' with three-day pay-it-forward giveaway

The idea is that someone who has a card will use it for a free coffee then pass it on to someone else. I'm open to receiving one from anyone! (I'll be sure to pass it on to my wife )

Is the McDonald's jalapeno McChicken just a McChicken with jalapenos or is it a spicier sandwich with a pepper jack cheese?

i think it used to be a mcchicken with jalapeno bits that were breaded and deep fried.

There are two locations. The one on Eastern and Silverado Ranch serves pizza and the other one does not IIRC. Italian beef combo with hot sausage and giardiniera Not a fan of Chicago dogs but the Maxwell Street Polish sausage is good there.

Dang that dreary weather tax ain't no joke in Seattle. $5.99 for the combo here in sunny socal.

Probably variance - I'm happy to report Taco Bell's Grilled 'Stuft' Burrito is massive. ~7 years ago I remember it being small enough to order two. Today it is approximately heavier than a Chipotle burrito. Under $5 is the sweet kicker.

No, every one I've had was like that.

Two out of the three Subways in my town are drive-thru.

I see many subways in my area that have overtaken former fast food spots (rally’s, Hardee’s, Taco Bell, etc) and kept the drive thru.

Popeyes I went to tonight ran out of chicken sandwiches about 8 PM - I think it was actually the buns.

Apparently happening other places too:

$5.99 for the Popeyes chicken sandwich in socal???!?? Expensive azz socal oh my goodness.

Yeah at $8.80 with tax I'll probably never get it again. Wendys 444 is just down the block.

$3.99 in Vegas, and I drove by a Popeyes today and it seemed to be much busier than normal. Chicken wars are real.

i ordered one of each today at the popeye's on craig and tenaya. went inside, as the drive thru looked like a total nightmare. of course it was packed inside too. order placed at 12:28p, food received at 1:00p.

spicy is by far the better sandwich. the non-spicy is good, but not good enough to get again.

Both of the Subways in my town were built as Subways, with drive-thrus. It's the drive-thru capitol of the world. Even the Walgreens has a drive thru for picking up prescriptions.
