Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but "The Coupling" BBC TV show is pretty great, like a raunchier Friends, though the laugh track is kind of annoying.

just posting to say that I am really impressed with the amount of good movies being added to watch instantly; very nice to see a good chunk of my que gradually being added or soon to be added to watch instantly.

The PS3 disc is awesome.

-The interface is simple.
-You can browse movies not in your queue, but there isn't the ability to search by title which is kinda crappy and hopefully will be added.
-Obviously it is going to depend heavily on your internet connection, but in my limited experience it has been no more than 10-15 seconds of buffering before start.

Hardly ever noticed the laugh track because I was laughing so hard myself. Really, really funny stuff.

In HD as well. The show is very fun, well done, and brews to become an epic story. I recommend everybody give it a whirl. I would like to be Hawkins one day.

I tried to get into it, but the action adventure they tried to mix in always seemed pretty bad. I like the premise though so I'll likely give it another shot.

I've been watching while grinding and just hit the first serious New Bern story-arc. Those 4 episodes are so amazing, I left them on my DVR for a year and watched them over and over. It's been a while since I've seen the whole thing, so I forgot how good the pre-Bern episodes were.

I certainly would. The first 10(ish) eps are kind of disjointed, taking on a more survivalist aspect. Later in the first season, the "real" story really starts to develop (although lol more action adventure)

Yeah, the newbern leadup, revelation, and showdown was very well done, and constantino plays a believable villain. The beauty of the show is in the initial isolation of the town. I never really gave thought to the fact that the entire country was in turmoil, and different cities are reacting to it in different ways. The small town nature of Jericho, and having a competent leader, is why it went so well. So how they gradually unfolded the tapestry of New United States was just fun to watch, and reminds me a bit of Battlestar Galactica.

If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch the BSG miniseries. That is enough to know whether you'll enjoy the series or not. It's perfect for 3 seasons.

The way his posts is worded, I think he's seen the show before and is casually going back through it again.

Yeah I've seen it before when it first aired. It's been long enough that some things seem new, but I remember most of it.

Also, the streaming netflix is perfect since I just take out one of my tables and put the netflix there. That way all my attention is on the monitor at all times.

Yes I agree with all this. I COULD NOT believe that they canceled the show after that amazing finale, and then AGAIN when they came back. I haven't checked out the comic that continues the story, but I've heard that it's very well done.

I'll check out BSG. My friends have raved about it for a while, but I missed the start and wasn't going to buy the DVDs. If it's on instant watch I'll add it to the Q right after Friday Night Lights.

Jericho is the nuts I watched all the episodes straight with no sleep I was so hooked. the first episodes dont get into the whole plot because they probably thought it was going to last longer they wrapped it up when word came they were getting canceled. Really entertaining show once you get into it.

The first 3 seasons of farscape are up on it too which is another great show if you are into sci-fi at all.

Yeah season 2 especially felt really rushed. Like they had 20 hours worth of story to get into 6 hours. I did love how (in the beginning) they just slowly revealed information, and all the online extras were amazing as well. (I think they were the first to do this)

So no one else is noticing discrepancies between the watch now que on the netflix site and what is available to watch instantly via PS3? FWIW I have significantly less options through my PS3 than indicated on my que online.

The only thing I noticed is that one standup one that worked online shows up, but when I click on it through PS3 it says "Not currently available"

I haven't noticed any difference for what actually shows up.

The deal with the 2nd season was that they were guaranteed 7 episodes, and if it did well, they would get a full order for season 3. So this is why it moved along much faster and why the ending gave enough closure to cap the series without leaving any gaping loose ends, but left it open in case it was picked up.

Apparently the original idea was to split up season 2 into three major story arcs. Texas, Cheyenne, and New York, and show essentially the second US civil war. The ending of S2 was just so good I still to this day feel sad sometimes about what they could have done if given another season.

Regarding BSG, use netflix to get the first disc of season 1, which should be the miniseries. It's basically a 3 hour movie. You'll be hooked within 30 minutes, I promise.

Is the quality the same across different Netflix Watch Instantly devices? (TiVo HD, PS3, Xbox 360, Sony TV, and Samsung Blu-Ray/home theater)

What about the interfaces? All pretty much the same? / Any advantages to using a particular device? / If you had all of the above devices, which would you use?

Is there any advantage to using Blockbuster for Blu-Ray/DVD service?

Ty.

from what i understand, the roku is most popular.
though, keep in mind, w/ a PS3, XBOX, etc.. you get more than just a tivo device. (roku dosn't play discs or anything).

once i get a new TV, I will prolly cancel my direct TV subscription and just get netflix.

I temporarily switched to Blockbuster because I got them to give me a free month (asked). Not too happy with it...they get movies a day later than Netflix, but YMMV depending on location. Site isn't as nice and user friendly. The big advantage I thought was that they have Blu-Ray included with no extra fee, but I'd gladly pay the extra couple bucks for Blu-Ray + Netflix streaming.

They do have the thing where you can exchange in the store for free rentals, but that is an extra fee PLUS the movie from the store counts as a movie against you, which is a dealbreaker imo.

If I did not have a PS3 it might be close, because I never watched Netflix on my computer. If you have a streaming device though it's not really close imo.
