Well, they're getting elected to political office, so will affect science and climate policy in the future.

Yeah the crew of FEers is nuts. It's also hilarious that they ignore the facts repeatedly and look for what they want. Oh this thing proves we're moving, let's throw that away. Let's continue other dumb experiments, each which shows we're really dumb and ignore that information too.

I have a theory that may be as outlandish and the flat earthers. That is a vast majority of flat earthers are just trolls looking to poke people with stick and get amusement out of the reactions they create.

Sadly no.
I really loved that documentary. They did a great job at making me care for the dummies. At first I was mocking thinking they deserve to get scammed and in the end if I met one I d like to think I'd treat them well.
That subject is a fear of mine for 3 years what if someone I m close to start falling in that stuff.

I am about 8 eps in The Vietnam War Documentary by Ken Burns

I ll say this so far, being the only doc ive seen of his, its incredibly well done and pretty detail oriented and entertaining. really enjoyed it so far for such a long doc.

pros: tons of info, a lot of in depth info and really doesn't leave many stones unturned and its truly decently unbiased.

cons or things I feel could have been slightly better: Episodes 6-8 shift more towards character develoment and background info of certain people, which I enjoyed, especialyl the political part and tapes. however it just kind of dragged because once it hit 1968-69 not much to talk about the way, actualyl after they talk abot the tet offensive, we see a slight shift of how the doc flows. and it needs that shift with how the last 2 eps are going to wind down. not really a drawback but just a minor thinng i noticed. no biggie

I just feel the first half especially eps 1,2 and 4 were absolutely enthralling to me and I actually learned quite a bit watching this doc so far in each episode. ueah i feel the worst parts where the non political at home stuff dealing with riots but its incredibly well made and im upset I didnt watch this sooner, hope to finish last 2 eps tonight

I'd still much rather have public officials who promote flat earth than public officials who promote child rape. I don't understand how anyone could get anywhere near as angry about flat earthers as about people who actively facilitate child rape.

Flat earthing is just another way for lonely people to join a club and have a sense of community. Technology is making people more lonely all the time, so these types of movements will only get larger and more frequent.

My mother has always been a bit paranoid and a bit delusional and in her later years she dove right into all the conspiracy theories. Chem trails and all, but not flat earth as I don't think it was really around then. When my dad got cancer she spent thousands on scam medical cures and devices. The devices were usually things like copper coils hotglued to an external camera flash.

There is a special level of hell for people that sell these things to the mentally ill.

I have a fairly good friend who thinks we (humans) lived with dinosaurs a few thousand years ago. Thought he was kidding when he mentioned it, but it became apparent he was serious.

Is it new or the original special that had the Machine story?

Ugh I googled it to make for certain it was his older special(it is) and I found out Brody Stevens killed himself. 818 til I die.

Earlier itt I pointed out that there is a massive hole in the market for shows the whole family can sit round the TV and all enjoy.

There are very few examples on NF, Lost in Space perhaps being the best.

However Umbrella Academy without the drugs/torture/throat cutting would absolutely nail that brief. It could still include those elements but tone them down somewhat, to say a PG12 level (not sure you have that in USA).

I watched it with my 11 year old and he loved it anyway.

Which leads to another question, would it really be so hard for shows and films to come with multiple age appropriate edits?

Surely if you could release a film/show with an 18,15,12PG,PG set of edits (or selection of, dont have to do all) this would widen the potential audience.

There are plenty of shows and films imo that could maintain their core content and remain entertaining with just a few edits to make them more age appropriate for younger viewers.

Disney will likely nail the family friendly content, but I assume that will just be kid content that adults can mildly enjoy.

Its weird because Simpsons is a show with genuine cross generational appeal, or at least it was at peak.

Adults and kids seemed to enjoy that show equally.

That show did alright commercially.

There is a program called VidAngel that allows you to pick which types of content you want left out.

As for Disney, there is plenty that they put out that we keep our kids from watching.

(We more more conservative than most)

"Hot Girls Wanted" is a series on the porn industry according to the description, but it's weirdly named. The first ep is about a woman trying to make porn for women, another is about new girls in porn. Makes sense - but like the 2nd ep, which I liked the best - was about a guy in Vegas totally obsessed with using dating apps to find and hook up with hundreds of girls, but never able to commit to any of them - seems out of place - really nothing to do with porn, but the best ep imo.

Dude is a hell of an actor. He's totally unrecognizable.
Would have never put the two together if you didn't mention it.

Enjoying Umbrella Academy so far. Soundtrack is pretty fun.
LOL DAT Tiffany scene.

Though they had to ruin it by not using INXS's original, and a cover version.

Netflix has this children's account thing and I've never bothered to click on it. Does that block out inappropriate stuff for kids?
