Just finished Glow and Maniac, really liked both.

Watched the first episode of Ozark and wasn't really sold. Is the first season worth a watch?

Probably not if you didn't like the first episode. It just gets more ridiculous as it goes on.

I thought season 2 was way better but you really need to watch them both.

I like Ozark, but for me it kind of peaked at S1E1, so if it didn’t hook you from there, probably not a great sign.

I liked S1 a bit better. Both solid though, enjoyed them.

Good point about this show, It literally jumped out the gate and started sprinting.

I was hooked from the get go.

My thoughts on Ozark season 1 were that if you could accept the absolutely ridiculous premise of the pilot, you have signed yourself on for whatever happens past that point.

Have not seen season 2 yet, but if you can't get past episode 1 I'd say just let it go.

I was unimpressed with Ozark first episode, and stopped watching until this thread made me want to try again. The first few episodes are just an introduction of the premise and characters. It gets much better and darker with some good writing and acting. The premise is really not any more unbelievable than Breaking Bad was.

NETFLIX: “People Places Things”
Comedy with Jemaine (Flight of the Conchords). It’s sappy but I enjoyed it.

AMAZON PRIME: “Bone Tomahawk” with Kurt Russell. It has witty dialogue and set in the old west. Don’t research, just watch it. Awesome movie. 9/10

If you loved Breaking Bad, at the very least you're going to like Ozark. For me, second season>first season, and it's on track to be a top 10 show all time for me with potential to move up.

Ozark isn't even close to being as good as Breaking Bad.

I thought Ozark fell off pretty hard in season 2. Actually I haven't finished it yet so maybe it gets better.

And I realized that it has basically no likeable characters or the comic relief which made BB so great.

I haven't finished season 2 either. That in itself shows the difference in shows. I would be absolutely salivating to watch a new episode of BB.

Hot take: Ozark isn't as good as Breaking Bad, which makes it like every other show ever

Ozark has more likeable characters than BB. BB had exactly one likeable main character.. Ruthie is kind of ozarks Jesse. But Also, the old man, and the smart cousin and the kids are quite likable. which is more than saul, who was probably the only other likable character.

I mean, I guess that’s true but walter isnt really likeable. The show’s main drive is that the characters are interesting and flawed - no one is really likeable in the show.

Something about jason bateman really bothers me. I dont know what it is. Mostly how he plays the exact same insufferable straight man in every role hes ever been in. If he deviated from that finally i may check it out.

I think he meant Jessie is likeable, not Walter

I'm using "likeable" in the sense of characters that are fun to watch, interesting, and you care about what happens to them, whether or not you agree with their moral choices. In this sense Jesse and Walter are extremely likeable as are many of the supporting cast.

Most of the Ozark characters, good or evil, are dull as dirt. With a very few exceptions like Ruth.

naw, Jesse and maybe ehmantrout were the only ones I ever cared what happened to. Walter and skylar and everyone else could have got hit by a bus for all I cared, they were either "meh" or extremely unlikable.

Also, I dont think youll find anyone saying ozark is as good as breaking bad. It's not. But there is probably a big cross over of people in that if you liked breaking bad you are more likely to like ozark than not.

Really liked season 1 and season 2 has great reviews. I watched S2E1 and thought it was terrible. I will give it a few more episodes though.
