I think if you don’t like maniac 2 eps in it probably wont improve much - I thought the ending was very satisfying though

+1 on not watching it dubbed. I watched first ep like that and it was awful, switched and it was sooooo much better.

I really enjoyed it as well. Will def re watch it before season 2 comes out

Dark is great
Spoiler:
but I needed to have it 'splained to me
.

I guess that's not much of a spoiler.

Maniac, I didn't really enjoy which is kind of odd because I really like shows like dark/the leftovers/fringe and that show seems similar.

the first few episodes of Maniac are building the universe, it's not a show like fringe or ncis or magnum pi.

for example, The Good Cop is a show that if you don't like 2 eps in it doesn't improve much.

it's like a light cop show featuring a cop who never does anything wrong, and he lives with his dad who was a dirty cop (tony danza) who was disgraced and sent to prison. they solve one crime per episode. danza takes on the acting challenge of his lifetime by playing an italian-american new yorker named tony, and saves the show with his charming personality. 3 bags of popcorn

Dark was absolutely amazing and was discussed a decent amount on this forum iirc.

I'm 8 episodes into Maniac and I think it has fallen far short of its potential. The middle episodes were quite a chore, and I'd say episode 4 is just plain bad.

Hold The Dark teaches us that "Netflix Original" can overcome "7 figure budget" and "Director who was previously 3 for 3" and still produce an ultimately unsatisfying movie.

I asked earlier in this thread about "Dark", but I actually meant "Safe". My bad. Any opinions on this show?

i thought it was pretty good. felt like a riverdale type show with adults if you like that kind of mystery.

its just one pretty short season, and no forced cliffhanger to get a season 2 which i always hate

difference with dark is that it defaults to dubbed. All the other netflix foreign stuff I've watched the default is subtitles.

Wouldnt want some poor uncultured n00b to watch dark and not realize subtitles are an option (I had an IRL friend do this, but its entirely possible hes a dumbass that thinks dubbed is good)

Maniac could have been really good but ultimately it borderline sucked. Not sure I've ever watched something that so massively fell under its ceiling.

Monty Python's Flying Circus was added to netflix yesterday.

Edit: actually a lot of monty Python stuff was added yesterday. A few documentaries as well as some solo stuff from Cleese and Idle, and the reunion show they did a few years ago.

Anybody watch Joe Rogan's latest stand-up special?

Honestly, I've done everything I could to like Joe Rogan's stand-up. It's not that he's a bad comic. The jokes are there. Sometimes it feels like he's doing a fantastic impersonation of a stand-up comic rather than actually being one. He doesn't seem like a natural up there. It's kind of like he goes, "Well, these are jokes that comedians would make. Let me try them." instead of them coming from a deep more personal place. With guys like Bill Burr and Doug Stanhope, their jokes are coming from the heart. There's passion behind them that I don't feel from Joe.

The Good Cop
1st episode seemed like it might be ok until the 2nd half of the episode where it got totally ridiculous.

The best part was early episode 2 when classic TV poker string bet(I call. And raise you) and she got called out for a string bet. Seems like a goofy show tho.

I have stayed away from Rogans stand up, I feel he yells too much. I listen to his podcasts though.

Saw this latest special on netflix and decided to give it a try. In the first half, he yells a bit less, and had a couple of really good laughs . If he just toned down a few more parts and just chilled a bit... but just after halfway though he just yells way way too much.
