s2 was very good. not as funny, but ultimately a more satisfying storyline.
They had it pinned to other people during the course of the show and vindicated them through twists, just because that was the prime suspect at the time I didn't realize the show was settling on them being the culprit. Apparently it did.

This... is just not an accurate description.

Neither are on Netflix in NZ but your mileage may vary.

Would be more accurate to say The Americans is just like Total War.

I found it similar in a number of ways:
-dark, gritty tone
-parents leading a double life of crime with kids unaware
-father figure, excellent in his main field but struggling to hold it together elsewhere
-lots of tense scenes with little dialogue and a lot of subtext, particularly within the family and dinner table
-action that is more about suspense but occasionally brutal
-family's best friends are police/FBI who often come close to catching on

Ways that it is different:
-Walt's arc is the opposite of the Jennings
-BB is more surreal and has wackier characters
-the BB world feels bigger

Overall I think if you enjoyed Breaking Bad you'd like The Americans

Spot on Yeti. Show picks up steam with every episode, ended up enjoying it.

Yeah I watched an episode and a half and was pretty meh about it. Actually thought it was kind of bad. Didn't have the first season magic for me.

I guess I should keep on truckin'.

I enjoyed it from the start (the way they have the formula of these types of shows down is just impeccable), but at least watch through the 3rd ep. If you still think it’s bad you can prob give up then.

so i never heard of american vandals but checked out the trailer because of talk here.....are these supposed to be true stories, or is it like a mockumentary? Didn't want to google for the answer so as to not run into spoilers in case i decide to watch

Maniac

a semi-dystopian near future or alternate reality where things are advanced but still ****ty, like most technology is better but has a Tim and Eric vhs tape vibe. Emma Stone in extended dream sequences? yes please. it’s like a psychological type story, i hestitate to label it a thriller or sci fi although it has elements of those. anyway, i loved it. they tried for something different and i think they nailed it. 5 bags of popcorn

Damn u SA! I came here specifically for this but ofcourse you’ve beat me to it.
I’m only a couple of eps in but loving this so far. Shaping up to be the best thing iv seen in a while and couldnt agree more with the recommendation. Visually it’s great and story’s moving along nicely. Loving all the design aspects of the tech, and the drug companies’ intro video in ep 2 is a thing of beauty

Found myself watching We Are Twisted Sister doco, and I watched it all the way through, to my surprise. I've never bought one of their records or downloaded a single song, and can recognize only two of their tunes to this day. I checked on spotify, and yep, I only recognize the top two. And they dress as women on stage. How could this possibly be good? At all.

It's no Running Down A Dream (great), but I enjoyed it!

I didn't know about the doc, I saw them in concert when I was like 16. Yea 2 popular songs but a few other decent ones.

My girlfriend had watched Atypical and loved it, so now we’re watching it together. But it seems... not good. I guess a lot of people liked it though? What am I missing here, is it supposed to be funny? Interesting? Informative?

it's supposed to be a heart-warming, feel good dramedy. I would say it's meant for the same people who like shows like Parenthood. If you aren't over 40 or don't have kids you're not the target audience for the show.

I'm 6 episodes into Maniac and I feel like the final string of episodes is going to determine whether this series is amazing or a gigantic waste of time.

Cari Fukanaga is so goddamn talented.

how exactly is that strange, they don't definitively tell you who it was.

The spoiler post is dumb too (not you spoilering it, but the "evidence" within), that's obviously just a continuity error

I mean I googled the creator saying "It is who you think it is", but to think its strange someone would wonder who actually did it, is well, kind of strange.

The Quincy Jones documentary is excellent. Guy has lived one hell of an accomplished life.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was getting alot of comparisons to Stranger Things. Do not watch dubbed, use German with english subtitles. If you search this thread for the title you might find some discussion on it, feels like it came out a while ago.
