I'll second Moon as a good movie that most people probably haven't seen (it's sci-fi). Ex Machina/Spotlight too but most people have probably seen them.

I remember Brick being good but also the entire conceit of the movie being this weird thing where a teenager is investigating a crime as long as he can keep his high school principal off his back (???). It's good as long as you can turn your brain off to that aspect.

Brick is definitely an offbeat kind of movie because they played it like a hard-boiled detective film noir but the setting and characters are high school kids

it doesn't stand up to critique for verisimilitude but i still thought it was a really good movie

Looking for any series suggestions. My wife and really liked Breaking Bad, The Wire, Peaky Blinders, Rectified and Ozarks. Generally like any British police/crime drama series.

Anything out there (not in the mainstream) that we might like??

The Fall (Jamie Dornan, Gillian Anderson) and Luther (Idris Elba) are both top notch British crime dramas. Season 1 of The Fall was excellent.

The Killing has several seasons and is entertaining. Not British but has a similar feel to Luther.

Mindhunters is really good once you get past the first episode. Must see if your into serial killer shows.

15 minutes into American Vandal S2, and it's so bad, I came to my computer and posted this. It's almost unwatchable. Is this me? What am I missing? I loved S1, but this is sad. Is this worth continuing?

i really wasn't digging it after 20 mins either, because it seemed like it had just gone to lowest common denominator defecation humour. that isn't the case. keep going, you will almost certainly be enjoying it in an hour's time.

(yes before anyone feels the need to point it out, i know S1 was about dicks and ball hair)
