i give it 4 bags of popcorn because it's not the best show, it has some flaws, but it's not as bad as the reviews made me think it would be, so i'd recommend it for some laughs and some fun if you go in with low expectations
completely agree, I enjoyed it, and was surprised by all the negative reviews, but I guess given the subject matter it's not surprising.

Also watched To all the boys I've loved and thoroughly enjoyed it, very good teen chick flick movie if you are into that kind of thing.

imagine Futurama except without sci fi references and science jokes. also, replace bender the robot with a magic demon who doesn’t actually have a personality but just encourages the princess to do things a smart rational person wouldn’t advise. oh and replace fry, working class slacker, with a princess who doesn’t want to be a princess

take all that and mix in the style of humor of contemporary simpsons episodes and that’s this show

i bailed around episode 3 so i don’t have a popcorn rating for this one

In all honesty, it gets better after episode three (though not by a ton.) The first three episodes are mostly introductory. After that the crew actually gets onto some adventuring.

Agree with Luci being little more than a bad Bender clone and Bean being little more than a Fry clone that replaces stupidity with drunkenness.

But it is certainly more Futurama than Simpsons.

yeah it's definitely just a worse version of futurama. it doesn't have the cloying joke-void feel of a simpsons episode, disenchantment is at least trying for jokes it's just that they weren't landing for me

It was a really weird style choice for me for them to have every Futurama voice actor on the show (sans Katey Segal) and not have them being the main cast members.

I’m surprised it’s taken them this long to do this.

My girlfriend and I watched two episode. We both thought it was real lame and won't watch any more of them.

I used to LOVE the Simpsons when I was young and either my sense of humor has changed, or the Simpsons just became unfunny (or likely some of both) but I don't see any humor in the Simpsons anymore. It's basically the same type if humor. If you like the Simpsons you will probably like it, if not then pass.

The gf and I just finished watching Hardcore Henry and we both enjoyed it. It’s a really fun movie in the vein of Crank.

Just watched “The End of The Tour” and thought it was very good. Had a really good performance from Jason Segal. It Had a lot of interesting/ insightful things to think about regarding depression life and entertainment... highly recommend it.

Yup, I loved The End of the Tour. Segal was great, and DFW.....damn shame. Mental illness is no joke.

Somehow they got even more ridiculous than Season 1, yet it looks amazing.

yeah i think there is probably a strong cross over of ESPN watchers and simpsons viewers/fans, which is what i think the adverts were relying on.

i know its a hot take but i never really liked the simpsons, i know they arent the same but for cartoons i'd have south park, rick and morty, bojack, and probably family guy all significantly ahead of the simpsons, and this new show just made me feel like i was watching a watered down simpsons as was stated above. i quit after 2 episodes.

a simpsons fan's mileage may vary greatly.

Me, as the trailer starts: ok I loved the first season and it was insanely original and perfect, but is this sort of thing going to feel stale a second time through?
Me, 30 seconds later: belly laughing

Premieres September 14, CAN'T WAIT

Well this is just wrong. Seasons 2-8 of The Simpsons has Possibly 3-4 bad episodes among them. It's the single greatest run of uninterrupted greatness in TV history. Roughly 160 nearly consecutive episodes of glorious satire that skewered every single aspect of American life.

So Yeah, it is a hot take, but it's almost certainly objectively wrong, and with a medium as subjective as Television, I still feel outrageously confident saying that.

Yes, many years ago I loved The Simpsons and watched it all the time. I have tried watching some of the new ones but its not the same. There are some re runs on around when I go to bed and usually watch it for 5 or 10 min. before crashing and get a few laughs.

I've got that era of Simpsons as one of my top 5 TV shows of all time. I've also probably got Futurama until its revival also as one of my top 5 TV shows.

So I really wanted to love Disenchantment. I enjoyed it...but there is something missing.

There was something incredibly fresh about Simpsons and Futurama when they both came out...but Disenchantment tried to force it

Yeah, I couldn't stop laughing either at the trailer. Didn't even know it is continued so that's a nice surprise around the time the new Narcos comes out, too.

which is why i said its probably a hot take in here and that you're free to feel different.

i personally believe South Park is superior (best for best). Rick and Morty, to me, is vastly better but not really as comparable to simpsons as south park is. there is also probably a generational difference for most viewers as well, considering the oldest millennials were like 3 or 4 for the start of the seasons you're talking about.

to avoid a complete derail i'll leave it, if you love Groenig's stuff, i personally do not, you may like the new one if you haven't watched it. i however, think it's entirely skip-able.

From what I heard they are skippable and only promos for other Netflix shows but if they are unskippable that could prove problematic. Personally I haven't gotten any but I already hate when you hover the mouse over something it breaks into a promo/trailer.
