American vandal is super under-rated because of the premise. I almost didn't finish first episode the first time.

Don't trust the b!tch in apartment whatever is a good comedy, along the lines of new girl and worth watching.

It helps that both Krysten Ritter and Drama Walker are hot AF. That and James VanDerbeek playing himself is funny as hell.

Not sure where it’s offered elsewhere, (I’m currently watching on SBS on demand in Oz!) but seeing as shows from other services are now being thrown about, just wanted to mention Counterpart. Bout 5 eps in and really enjoying it so far

The Informant! was a really good thriller/comedy based on a true story. matt damon is a business guy and scott bakula is an fbi agent. you know this **** was a 5-bagger, just from the cast you can tell. and tony hale is a lawyer.

Anything with Matt Damon is a clear unwatched 5-bagger.

Mississippi Grind

the bad brother from Bloodlines is an aging degenerate gambler and ryan reynolds is a white bagger vance but for gambling instead of golf. the two become fast friends at a poker table and embark on a gambling binge while traveling from iowa to new orleans where there's some legendary private poker game with a $25k buyin. unfortunately even though i appreciated the many gambling references throughout the movie it seemed to drag on a lot and it felt too long even though it was well under 2 hours. it's not a VERY good movie, like it didn't have very good writing or acting or directing (the guy from bloodlines was great as usual tho), but i had some fun watching it while i surfed the internet so i'll give it 3 bags of popcorn and 2 top shelf whiskeys

Cartel Land

Good, upclose doc about vigilantes on both sides of the border. Nothing romantic about it, just an honest look at two groups trying to do what they think is right in land corrupted by cartels and trafficking. The US group seemed like a bunch of racist trigger-happy wannabe mercs, but the story on the Mexico side was as real as it gets.

I thought Mississippi Grind was fairly bad, though Ben Mendelsohn was def solid. Some real cringeworthy poker scenes and writing imo.

Travelers is really good, though I worry that there isn't an overarching plan to the story. If you don't like the first two episodes there's no need to continue, it gets into the meat of it pretty quick. Be warned that they aren't too strict with time travel rules.

Altered Carbon is a real cool sci-fi noir detective story, with a plot that is just on the right side of comprehensible for that genre. The production values are insane, it must have cost an absolute fortune. It's also based on a trilogy of novels so there is a planned direction for it. The only (big) negative is that the dialogue is mostly pretty lame.

Agree with every word about both shows.

Just watched this and I agree. It wasn't very good but gambling movies will always appeal to me. This movie felt like it was 3 hours, though.

Assuming that 5-bagger means top notch, I agree. I have friends who think Matt Damon is miscast in tough guy roles ( I disagree ) but if that's what you think, then you'd have to love him in the Informant as he shines brilliantly. He plays the type of nerd that you just want to beat the crap out of and he plays it really well. You want to beat him so badly that you're glued to the screen throughout the show.

watching the new season of orange is the new black and about half way through...the overweight CO is awesome, as is the entire premise of the fantasy inmates. Loving that plot

i thought the new netflix original series Insatiable was gonna be really bad because every review i've read said it was bad, but i ended up really liking it

a fat girl unexpectedly loses a ton of weight and gets a makeover and she uses her newfound powers as a beautiful thin girl to take revenge on the people who she feels wronged her when she was fat. it's kind of a dark comedy but it's mostly light watching with some darker-than-usual turns. i had fun and ended up watching the whole season and i'm excited for season 2 after where they left off

i give it 4 bags of popcorn because it's not the best show, it has some flaws, but it's not as bad as the reviews made me think it would be, so i'd recommend it for some laughs and some fun if you go in with low expectations

I liked Mississippi Grind. I felt it accomplished the goal of being a story with gamblers but not a movie about gambling. More basically it is about being alone yet surrounded by people.

Liked this too, voiceovers reminded me of scrubs although material is much different.

Saw a commercial for it on ESPN today, is that really the demographic? I have not watched the show and doubt I will.

ESPN is a demographic fit for the show creator (Gen X Male) but maybe not the actual material.
