for those that have watched the whole season of last chance U:

Spoiler:
were you able to tell that Rakeem Boyd was a averaging 120+yards per game (1,211 yrds in 10 games), even with not playing more than a few snaps the first couple games? he had 303 against coffeyville and 1 td(scott took 2), and then had 215 and 3 td's in the bowl game.

so this coach has a running back averaging ~6.5 yrds per carry and can barely manage to win some of these games while drawing up ridiculous pass plays and wildcat bullcrap..

Wow, this went completely over my head. Maybe that’s what coach Brown was talking about when he said “It doesn’t matter what play you call...if a kid believes in you he’ll run through 11 players and score.” (lol)

The other running back seemed really bitter at the end (I think he got released?), and seemed to think he got screwed by the coach. But that’s a tough stance when the other back had over 1000 yards in 10 games.

the red shirt said it best, it was a problem of over recruiting. You have whats supposed to be the top QB, what seemed to be 2 solid receivers, and three good to great RBs, someone is going to get shutout by design.

overall thoughts on Last Chance U:

Spoiler:
As others have said, Coach Brown is a great recruiter but seems like a bad coach when it comes to play calling and motivation. He completely lost the team a few games in with players opening talking **** about him practically to his face. The way he treats his other coaches in front of the players was pretty despicable and causes the players not to respect them.

I hate Maleek with a passion, and I can't see him a top program even giving him a shot after watching this season. I loved it when the O Line coach called him out for being a fake. I wanted someone to catch him off field and beat his ass. Them not having a real backup plan at QB really put them in a bad spot.
Not being able to pull him/kick him off the team gave them basically no chance at having the team pull together. I have the last episode paused before the bowl game but I hope to god they give the 3rd string guy the start.

Watched "The Sinner", 1 season with Jessica Biel thats now on netflix. Was pretty good, was also really impressed by Biels ability to cry so much. Definitely worth watching if you like dark crime drama type shows

I guess it got reneewed for a second season, but season 1 is pretty much self contained, a la true detective

Extinction feels like another one of those movies that was potentially made by aliens, or as a TOEFL thing.

I would love an oral history of why they didn't just make their legitimately interesting premise into a movie instead of this nonsense.

It got cancelled now.

Yeah, it kinda jumped the shark. Still, it is worth watching. Well written and acted, so long as you like the premise.

Is Mrs. Maisel worth watching? I am on S1E5 and I really liked the pilot but the past few episodes have been pretty boring.

I really enjoyed Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, it's much better than how youtalkfunny made it sound.

The Rover 2014 Netflix USA

10 years after a global economic collapse, a hardened loner (Guy Pearce) pursues a group of men who stole his car.

Really enjoyed this. Thought the acting and scenery was very good. Never felt like it tried to force feed the backstory of the collapse or the characters lives. The world and action felt pretty realistic. Give it a watch. 8/10 (My movie tastes have The Road and Children of Men as 10/10)

Shaka Zulu 1986 Netflix USA

A ten part mini-series on the life of the African Zulu king Shaka (early 1800's). I remembered seeing clips from this in high school because of the constant barrage of topless women so I checked it out. I would be impressed if the real Shaka was as alpha as the guy who played him. The beginning starts off a little 1980's cheesy but it picks up once you meet Shaka. Highly recommend if you like historical pieces.

I want to find more mini-series like this. I would love to see HBO do a type of series where they do seasons based on different historical rulers.

I noticed Enemy, from 2013, is on Netflix. I feel conflicted about this movie.

Pros:
- directed by Denis Villeneuve, who is awesome
- stars Jake Gyllenhaal, who is awesome
- interesting and somewhat twisted storyline

Cons:
- the worst ending I have seen in a movie possibly ever, that makes everything you watched feel like a waste

So, uh, yeah, if you like movies where the whole thing was a metaphor or are really scraping the bottom of the Netflix barrel, maybe check it out

^consider me intrigued. I really like Villeneuve's oeuvre that I'm familiar with; BR 2049 is one of the most underrated movies of this decade. Will probably check it out.

All the Queens Horses was very good. This comptroller robbed a small town blind for 20+ years and probably could've kept going had she been more careful. Great doc.

I know it was unconventional but the ending of Enema made perfect
sense to me.

This vid helped me understand the movie better after I first saw it.

Just finished the new season of OITNB and thought it was decent. It was maybe just a step below previous seasons but still an enjoyable watch, but if there is a season 7 I think I will be stopping after this one. VERY general spoilerish comment on why

Spoiler:
This show has always had a decent balance between preachy social-commentary moments and comedic moments but this season definitely seems to be more preachy than funny. The ending of the season seems like a perfect stopping point w/o too many unresolved storylines that I actually care about. Would almost compare it to the end of Dexter season 6 which would've been a perfect ending to that show.

Saw 'The Bleeding Edge' just now.

Pretty ****ing horrifying stuff. No compassionate human can look at healthcare in America and think, "Oh more regulation on medicine and medical devices would be a horrible thing!"
