Like the new season of Comedians in Cars, though a number of episodes feel like subtle ads for comedians who have their own Netflix specials.

This is a pretty good explanation for what was going on, why it switched from a typical male insecurity thing about proving yourself to your father-in-law to quirky road trip to the paranoid jealousy of the ending, and with the classic dream logic issue of forgetting what the start of the dream was about by the end.

I have no idea why Netflix, who presumably saw the final cut, promoted it so heavily. That's why I watched it, they had it as the above-the-fold autoplaying trailer for like 2 weeks, I assumed it was one of their big budget attempts to make a real movie. Forest Whitaker must have owed the director a favor or something, the man has an Oscar.

I don't think I ever saw promotion for it. I wonder if this was targeted based on taste?

Enjoying Colony, not sure how I missed it. I think there were other better shows that I have cycled through. Plus, I hesitate to watch any sci-fi unless I’m sure it won’t get canceled after one season.

I have it, and I agree. The video alone would not be worth it, but the free shipping on Amazon and selection of monthly free Kindle books and music makes it quite a good value as a package.

Something Amazon does not explain very well is that there are Prime books you do not need to pay for, then the Kindle Unlimited Program that is a subscription program, and then finally just regular for sale books.

I never found the free books online, I only discovered it on my actual Kindle Fire when I accidentally clicked a recommended/trending book and saw that it was free. I think I had seen them advertised in emails and such, but assumed they were part of the Kindle Unlimited plan. But no, completely free. Not a great selection generally, but still, free is free.

New episodes of Last Chance U are up. There is an 8 episode series about a brand new college as well as a 1 hour wrap up episode for seasons 1&2 that is just heart-breaking.

Binged the entire new season of Last Chance U. It's about a JuCo in Independence Kansas. New coach is almost as much of an ******* as Buddy Stephens was, but I at least think he cares about the kids outside of football with a few exceptions. Nowhere near the drama of the 1st or 2nd seasons obviously. After watching I'm convinced the Mid-West might be a completely different planet. Happy Neewollah!

was discussing this in the ootv forum, but this coach is terrible at actually coaching. he would get destroyed if he had to play against equally talented kids, and he screams at them to make up for that fact. I mean if the show showed the kids coming up to him and teaching him plays and what to call, then i can only imagine how many times that actually had to happen.

eta- they've also played down how good some of the kids were i think as well and how dominant the performances were and all you see is that they were still in close game.

I think the new coach is a moron. But what I didn't understand is how the #1 DT and #1 RB both wore the number 5?

It's crazy to me that the coach has really no track record of success and is at a school known for having a terrible program yet is one of the best recruiters at the JC level. I saw today that Independence has two of the top five kids this season. It goes to show that there needs to be more African American coaches who actually appeal to these kids.

In college offensive/defensive players share numbers quite often.

I’ve flipped so many times on this coach. He’s an *******, but it seems like he really does care about the kids.

I think my favorite moment might be when he’s sitting in the hot tub before the game talking about how he’s an “offensive savant” then his team goes out and gets blown out 70-21.

By the end of the season my final thoughts were that he was a TERRIBLE X's and O's coach, but is a obviously a great recruiter thanks to his background.

I also think he does care about getting the kids through college, but it also might be just for self-serving purposes b/c it makes him look better in the eyes of D1 coaches if he is not only thought of as someone who gives these kids a place to play, but also makes them more NCAA ready wrt to academics.

It was also obvious he did not give AF about the divas on his squad like the star QB and a few others.

The only thing that I thought was done as a disservice to the new coach was the obvious implication that he was an alcoholic by showing him with a drink in his hand while talking about his alcoholic father. If they included just 1 scene where he was questioned about his own drinking in light of his father's alcoholism it would've at least given him a chance to defend himself on camera.
