I couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of rain due to dumb characters

That said, I'm struggling through the mist for the same reason but it's one of my favorite books so I'll tough it out.

Made it halfway through the the first episode of Rain and bailed. The Mist was laughably bad from the beginning.

I'm late to the party but I thought Broadchurch season 1 was one of the best dramas I've ever seen. If you're into murder who-done-its it's an absolute must see unless you're bothered by pretty dark subject matters. I just stared season 2, hopefully it holds up.

If you liked The Killing this will be right up your alley

I hated the mist...apparently many people who watched the rain bailed after an episode due to dumb character decisions. I liked the show overall though.

Re: The Rain - I also hated most decisions in E1 but stuck with it and have not regretted that through 6 eps.

Arrested Development s5 has been out for a week. Had been struck that there have been no comments here so far.

But, through 4 eps - still one of the funnier shows on television, although it seems to be more an act of fan service than anything else at this point. There's a lot I love about it, but a few too many jokes for my taste that call back to previous seasons.

Recommended, still, for anyone who loved s1-s4. If you liked the first three but fell off with the fourth season, I'd probably put it more in the 'if you're bored' category. The first 4 eps lean on stuff that happened in s4.

(And don't get me started on the 'remix,' an abject waste of time.)

My wife watches Call The Midwife - It's about a group of Midwives in London in the 50's I think. Each episode deals with a birth and that family along with the few Nuns and Midwives. I have seen several shows but it is good, geared towards women.

Some discussion here.

I tried watching 13 Reasons S2, but couldn't remember all the character story lines. A second season seems forced too.

Sounds right in my wheelhouse, putting it on my list.

I’m about to watch the staircase. Ummmmm if there reason this is a case is because there is a **** ton of blood, more than should be the case of someone falling down a stairs. That should be pretty ducking easy to figure out right? I know I have 10 episodes to go but if all they have is too much blood for Fallon down. That should be pretty easy to determine if that’s true or not . Anyways I don’t want to spoil it myself so I’ll go watch

I’m in the middle of ep5 and it’s really good. From what I heard, most of this aired in 2005, a couple new eps from 2012/13 and then the last 2 or 3 were specifically for Netflix. That alone makes me very interested how it all goes down.

but absolutely amazing that we are gettng all this in depth bts look at teh defense. more shows should do that

I think a "remix" of the first airing would've served it best. Its a fascinating case and certainly entertaining but keeping at 8-10 episodes would've made for a better watch. I'm only finishing episode 7 now and I really want to get to the new eps.

Watching staircase for the first time ever. It is a bit long in documenting all the details of the lawyers strategy, and could have benefitted from narration I guess. But it is worth watching, and I have resisted googling the details until after finishing the series.

Finished ‘Staircase’. I had never seen any of it before and avoided all spoilers. It does move slowly, but it was worth it.

I have one more episode to go. its nowhere near as good as MaM or the jinx imo. but I loved how we got the defenses take, overall I am so happy i was able to watch it. but throughout the entire time...it lacked somthing for me. I cant tell exactly what it is. i think its the fact that we didnt get the entire prosecution side of things or we didnt have a "villain" even in MaM, which was one sided, I felt we were against or rooting against SOMEONE.

in the staircase, other than the fact that there is a **** TON OF BLOOD for someone just falling down the stairs..twice... the prosecution seemed super weak.

I have one more ep to go, hope to get a discusssion gogin once i watch it.

I'd hesitate to call it true crime - it's a major dramatization of the Unabomber case. It's a somewhat interesting show because the subject matter is pretty incredible stuff to begin with, but if there's a good documentary on it (I don't know of any offhand), that'd probably be a better watch than the Manhunt show.

unless the doc left stuff out, I really don't see any path to how the staircase guy is guilty. their only evidence seems to be "gee golly that is a lot of blood for a slip and fall"

Yeah, I can't even imagine the guy doing it. There was a post on the AVClub review by someone who said they followed and researched a lot about the case and said that even though Mike was "a piece of ****" there is no way he did it. I don't see the "POS" aspect at all, but thats an interesting endorsement.

I can't recall whether it's mentioned on the show or not (been years since I watched it) but I seem to recall a lot of people speculating that the injuries to Peterson's wife were consistent with an owl attack. I remember googling it a few years back and finding some interesting stuff.
Netflix "Watch Instantly" Quote

Yeah, as weird as that sounds, it is plausible. Owl attacks her, the blood starts slowly as she rushes inside wearing flip flops, blood covers her eyes and drips everywhere, she rushes up stairs, slips and falls, dies of blood loss.

Her blood in her fingerprint is allegedly on the door.

The only problem is that owls are silent, while owl victims are screaming loudly and Peterson was outside also.
