Thanks for End of the ****ing World rec, liked it a lot. Girl def cute af, I liked the way she says "Shet..." ha
Also the Trump dirty money was just nuts to me. Nothing but a confidence man, that ****ing clown. But hey, the shots of all the talking heads laughing in the face of Trump ever being elected was very schadenfreudy.
Trump had literally been reduced to a huckster promoting any and every thing he could possibly slap his name. He was sooooo close to being done right before the apprentice hit. Just a vile, toxic human being.
No subject cuts quicker and more deeply than family. When most of us grow up, we start to understand that our parents’ flaws are a product of their own complex lives. For our cartoon horse hero, his own narcissism precludes him from considering such things. Because of this, his toxic upbringing is never processed and it molds him into that same ugly form; He hurts himself and those around him to try and bandage his own bitterness. Most of this great series involves watching his darkly comic spiral.
The visual representation of memory in this is brilliant. Details change, disappear and reappear as the mind claws at old scraps. It’s dark, but the overall theme is constructive. Our actions ripple outward far longer than we often realize. When we wrong someone, especially those closest to us, that wrong is visited not only on them but on their relationships. In the closing of the episode, Bojack feels empathy for his mother. By understanding her story, maybe he can finally break the cycle of dysfunction. Probably not though. What do you think this is a cartoon?
+1 to End of the ****ing World being great and the girl and her accent super cute.
Not sure if it’s in the US catalog but have been enjoying Jack Whitehall’s Travels with my Father lately too.
I think once you get past their incredibly posh British accents and a grown man calling his father daddy it’s quite entertaining and rather funny seeing the different interactions between themselves and the local South East Asians in countries they visit
The End of the ****ing World was really, really good. I thought it ended perfectly and as much as I'd like to see more, I can't really think of a way they could make it better by adding seasons.
Radius was interesting with Ressler from Blacklist in the lead. It does have serious logical flaws but overall worth a watch.
Man wakes up after a truck crash, can't remember much but people drop dead when near him.
Spoiler:
How did the police miss the huge burnt out area around his crashed truck?
finished altered carbon over the weekend. interesting enough but I really struggled to follow along. had to read an episode recap online after each one.
Travelers is decent enough to binge. I put it off until it had 2 seasons, because I dislike cliffhanger finales, but iirc this is a regular Canadian show so no guarantees of season 3.
I guess I am spoiled now and feel entitled to neatly resolved plots and the ability to binge like it’s a 10 hour movie...
Really enjoyed "The Mortified Guide" which is basically a bunch of spoken word performances of mostly women reading excerpts from their teenage diaries. There were a few clunkers in there, bui they were more hits than misses.
