If you wanna make a crappy space thriller just make a ****ing space thriller, why attach cloverfield to it
Incredibly they did make a space thriller. Then they attached Cloverfield. The move was originally entitled "The God Particle" and had nothing to do with Cloverfield. It was also supposed to be released in
2016. It then went through a TON of reshoots to add the connection to Cloverfield, i.e. the lazy "CNN interviews a crazy guy who claims the experiment could send sea monsters back in time" and the insanely dumb "guy takes a little girl he found to a bomb shelter for ??? reasons" parts.
And you can really tell. There are a lot of odd scenes in this where people change clothes or go do something that seems off, subplots are introduced and abandoned, and the entire movie changes it's mind about whether it's a supernatural/sci-fi space horror film where
the station is trying to kill them to a more straightforward drama/thriller, then real briefly back, then it's back to the drama, then surprise it's a monster movie.
