I'm a sci-fi fan, and while I like the look and feel of Altered Carbon, the storytelling just isn't very compelling. Only through two episodes though, will give it more of a chance.

Is godless any good? Found the first EP extremely average and overly long. Does it improve?

The Cloverfield Paradox, a new Cloverfield movie, was just announced in a super bowl ad and is being released on Netflix right after the game

The only interesting character in Altered Carbon seemed to be the innkeeper. Found both the main character and the female detective annoying. Great visuals can only do so much.

Cloverfield Paradox starts off with the laziest and most obvious "suits thought the audience was too stupid to get the stakes" post-production exposition that itself precedes a scene that was clearly shot because the suits thought it might confuse people if we had a character be sad that she hadn't seen her family in a while without the setup of her having a family.

This movie has the least respect for the audience I've ever seen lol no wonder they dropped it with no promotion. It legit seems like this was written in another language then ran through Google Translate.

This is like an Asylum knockoff of that Ryan Reynolds movie Life, lol it's so cheap and bad, it's a pastiche of various elements of Sunshine and Event Horizon but with a budget of about 3.50 and a mandate to connect it to Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane in the sloppiest way possible.

Zero out of Four. Zero out of 10. Zero out of a hundred this movie is so ****ing bad. People who gave Bright a bad review owe Landis an apology

The one with john goodman is way better. I dont know why they keep doing spinoffs of this crappy universe that doesnt even address the original film.

If you wanna make a crappy space thriller just make a ****ing space thriller, why attach cloverfield to it

Yeah that was a stinker. 10 CF Lane was really enjoyable and got me excited for this, but this was too unoriginal which leads to boredom when the same generic plot devices you've seen in 20 thrillers in the past fail to hook you.

I'm baffled by how brutal Daniel Bruhl is in this movie, just nothing to work with I guess.

On a random note, here is an article claiming that a film to be released later this year is also in the Cloverfield franchise and it takes place during World War II fighting supernatural Nazis (aka Wolfenstein?). Gonna go ahead and NOPE the **** out of that one after seeing this turd

People should be surprised when jj Abrahms is a part of a good movie/show , not the opposite.
that guy is one of the worst overrated hack in hollywood.

10 CF Lane was an exception not the norm

Altered Carbon had me hooked most of the way, though I thought it got worse towards the end. Still worth a watch imo. Cool show.

If you like the Western genre, Godless is a must. Just so well done.

Incredibly they did make a space thriller. Then they attached Cloverfield. The move was originally entitled "The God Particle" and had nothing to do with Cloverfield. It was also supposed to be released in 2016. It then went through a TON of reshoots to add the connection to Cloverfield, i.e. the lazy "CNN interviews a crazy guy who claims the experiment could send sea monsters back in time" and the insanely dumb "guy takes a little girl he found to a bomb shelter for ??? reasons" parts.

And you can really tell. There are a lot of odd scenes in this where people change clothes or go do something that seems off, subplots are introduced and abandoned, and the entire movie changes it's mind about whether it's a supernatural/sci-fi space horror film where the station is trying to kill them to a more straightforward drama/thriller, then real briefly back, then it's back to the drama, then surprise it's a monster movie.

Spoilers:
Spoiler:

As ****ty as this was, I think the original cut probably explained the "gyroscope" that they dug out of that one guy, or why the monster arm briefly moved the plot along with a helpful hint(!!!!!!!!!!!!), or what the **** was going on with that one dude's eyes

Another WTF thing along those lines...

Spoiler:
When O'Dowd is killed by the putty that GRABS HIM, apparently first coming loose because of the magnetism but then bizarrely resisting it a moment later to hold him against the opposite wall

Eh anyone who gives a **** has seen it by now so I'm ditching the spoiler boxes.

The putty and the wall grabbing his arm(and the airlock filling with water) were clearly all part of a different movie, like the original plot had a different antagonist(I would not be surprised to discover Jensen's character didn't exist until reshoots, notice how rarely she's referenced or seen during the film's second act). They didn't want to shoot an entirely different fate for that character so they kept it in to explain why he wasn't around anymore, but lol as played it seems like the accident causes the station to become a malevolent force with a grudge against just that one guy. I assume the original cut had more supernatural **** happening to other characters. But like, half the characters are in Event Horizon and the other half are in Interstellar, you rarely seen a movie with creative direction changes this transparent.
