Watched Indie Game - decent but a little emo for sure. I give it a 3/5.

One of the links at the end led me to Chasing Ghosts about all the guys who held all the records on the 80's video games like Pacman, Joust, Berserker, Asteroids, Donkey Kong, etc. Total nerd rock stars. Pretty good if you grew up in that era like I did. 4/5

Went looking for Kong of Kong but its not there anymore.

I just watched chasing ghosts too because it was recommended from indie game.

It's a bit before my time (SNES era here) but I was still able to appreciate it. It was interesting to hear their perspective on modern gamers and games and it's really true.

sherlock really is great, I thought ep 4 was best of the series, I just watched it

I didn't get into indie games at all, I turned it off like 20 mins in. couldn't really take the pretentiousness and the "call of duty is a ****in terrible game but my frogger game is way better" quotes from those guys all the time unfortunately

TBH, only watched part of the first season. Pilot was one of the best pilots I've seen, steady downhill after that.

Netflix just launched in Scandinavia this week and I'm definitely impressed. While it doesn't entirely replace the internet and unmentioned means of getting American TV, it's certainly a good value for 7.99 euros per month. Only thing lacking is native support for Netflix "app" in TVs.

It's a step away from a native app, and maybe you're already familiar with the set-top boxes, but have you checked out Roku? It has apps for Netflix, Amazon Instant, Hulu Plus, and hundreds of others including niche stations. I'm not sure which of those services are available in your area*, but I love my Roku for consuming streaming content so I thought I would share.

Cheers.

Yeah - I know what you mean. Especially coming from guys who are just basically recycling a 25-year old platform (Super Mario Bros.).

"But wait - our spinning saws are way better and they represent the hopelessness of man's pursuit of happiness!! Plus, our spinning saws are at the end of a spinning arm!! And our character doesn't have any skin, which makes him vulnerable in an emotional sense!!"

It's sort of true that with gaming having gone mainstream, overall quality/entertainment value has gone down (pandering to a larger audience I think is to blame, can't please everyone) but production value has sky rocketed. I do think people who bitch and moan about how pacman at it's core is a better designed game than L4D are ******ed. That may be true, but I still bask in the glory of shotgunning zombies in the face on a 60 inch hd screen. Technology is good.

This is a pretty hilarious and accurate way to put it, but nonetheless I found it worth watching. Yeah, it was particularly lol when one of the developers would get butthurt by a review which somehow neglected to recognize all the symbolism and deeper meaning that was allegedly so prevalent, and instead reviewed the game as a...game.

Strange but not shocking to see how many of you missed the point with Indie Game: The Movie. Creating these video games exposes them to the world, criticism is a harsh thing to deal with. How many of you have posted something here then spammed refresh waiting to see if someone replied to you? Apples to oranges but I think it's safe to say a % of all of us want recognition, acceptance and success.

Season 3 and four (so far) are terrible. Save your time and stop after s2.

This is definitely true. People have to understand that software developers are no different than other creator-like jobs.

People who make music, carpenters, people who fix up old cars, writers, inventors of products and so on all have the same end result as software developers. They create something.

This is mostly why twitter, facebook and blogging and general is so popular. People just want their stuff read and see how people react to it.

I watched Indie Games. I think Phil Fish (the Fez game developer) is slowly going crazy lol. But damn that **** looks cool. The doc was definitely compelling.

Indie Game was awesome. I thought the emo attitudes of the characters were supposed to be comedic. Lol'd at multiple developers saying they'd kill themselves if they couldn't release their game, and the guy who broke down crying saying sending his game off for certification was like sending your kid off to college.

Interesting take and I suppose that was one of the themes. Like most things on Netflix I watched it to be entertained, and I was. Didn't really go fishing for deeper meaning. Insecurities were definitely on display though.

This.

I didn't miss the point.. of course it opens them up to criticism, and putting your heart into something and having it not go right or having it get ripped or seeing it fail on a big stage is obviously difficult and taxing. But imo, it was a bit much at times, although I wouldn't be surprised if it was either played up for the camera or if it was edited to come across this way.

Saying that...it was a pretty decent documentary and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys video games.

Yeah, about what you'd expect. Definitely harder core than skinemax. 99% sure there was actual sex going on. Can't tell you much about the movie, I skipped to the "good" parts, mostly for academic curiosity. (Really, that's why. If I want porn, there are better places than Netflix...)

That said, was a bit surprised to see this much sex on IW.
I googled it just now and the link to its IMDB page was already "purple" in my browser.

Their games aren't "frogger" nor "Super Mario Bros. rip-offs", and they are better than Call of Duty.

This movies been in my popular section for like a year. Is that only due to its comparisons to Hunger Games or was it like a legit big movie?
