+1 on moon. Especially Gerdy's facial "expressions" + kevin spacey.

If you've been on the fence on this one, note that it goes off instant later this week!

I watched one or two eps of sarah silverman show and wasn't very impressed despite liking some of her standup, is it worth watching more of?

I just watched Following and really liked it. It's only 70 minutes and an enthralling watch, the acting is all pretty amateur, but that is what you expect when you watch a movie filmed on a $6000 budget over a few months.

This hasn't been posted about in a year, but Ken Burns' Civil War is now on for streaming.

For anyone interested in writing or science fiction, I highly recommend "Harlan Ellison: Dreams with Sharp Teeth".

The SNL episodes are so aggravatingly truncated. Some episodes are like 33 minutes when they were originally 66 or so. The music performances seem to be always gone, and maybe other sketches are cut because of music as well. Bob Dole's Real World isn't there which is quite upsetting (does anyone have that?).

I hope the ones with Will Ferrell and that chick as the Jr. High School band teachers performing at weddings is still there. Lots of music in those though, goddamnit.

i'm halfway through season 1 of damages and really really like it so far.

same with spartacus the 1st seasons, i turned it off and snap rated it 0 stars like 25 minutes into episode 1. everyone vouching for it got me to give it another go and now that i'm beyond episode 4 i'm into it for sure. hopefully they'll keep the cheeeesy 300 looking shots with an obviously lower budget to a minimum- totally hack looking **** at times.

Spartacus is alright...I'm at ep 4 but I'm in no rush to finish.
Easily watchable, just nothing novel or groundbreaking.

As said before, Ep 4 of Spartacus is probably the turning point for the show. It's like there's completely different writers or something. And the Gods of the Arena prequel is probably better than Blood and Sand.

Recommend "Which Way Home" if anyone is looking for a good documentary.

well if you didn't like the few episodes you saw I doubt you'd start liking it all of a sudden. Sarah and her sister are just funny to me, no matter what the story is.

season 1 of damages is awesome, i watched all of season 1 and 2 in like a 4-5 day span. season 2 is pretty good too but the heroine kind of gets out of control badass... semi realistic i suppose.

damages is really good. acting is top notch, story is compelling. but realistic it is not. not even close.

although season 1 did freak me out for a little while.

Watched "A Fish Called Wanda" for the first time, fun heist comedy from the '80s, with Kevin Kline, John Kleese, Jamie Lee Curtis. Do not watch if you don't like comical depictions of animal cruelty.

I've been watching some old SNLs, most recently a few eps from Season 20. There's a lot more dud skits than I remembered. I always thought of the Farley/Sandler/Spade etc years as some of the strongest, but overall the eps haven't been home runs.

I did dig up my favorite SNL sketch though: the polar bear sketch. It's the last skit of Season 20 ep 20 (hosted by David Duchovny, the rest of the ep is pretty weak).

For anyone who watched that abortion of a remake of The Taking of Pelham 123 do yourself a favor and watch the original starring Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau.

watched a bunch of stuff recently:

Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious - my girlfriend and I were in tears from laughing so much. 9/10

Capitalism: a love story by michael moore - I liked it. Had some funny moments and lots of jawdropping wtf information as well. Didn't seem as good as some of his other work IMO, but still very solid. 8/10

Guns, germs, and steel - meh, thought it was ok. I had high hopes, but felt too much was left out. Zero discussion of any asian/russian empires and too much focus on poor south americans / africans. 5/10

Unthinkable - decent suspense/thriller/mind-bender. Didn't like the ending though. 6/10

Fat Head - wtf people liked this? Full of bs arguments, misinformation, "expert" opinions from people with no credentials, selectively edited street interviews, etc. etc. Thought this was really terrible. FWIW I did like super size me, but thought that had a lot of bad info and questionable material as well. Fat Head was just rubbish though. 2/10

Collapse - intriguing documentary about energy / oil. Some good thought provoking stuff. 7/10

District 9 - saw it in the threatre, and watched it again. I really liked this one even though the message is rather heavy handed. I'm a sucker for ****ed up sci-fi, action, alien movies. 9/10.

They added 8 mile, Kiss of the Dragon and Romeo Must Die. Nothing too spectacular, but I think 8 mile is pretty solid and KotD has some good action scenes (kicking the pool ball out of the pocket into the guys face).

Unthinkable- Started out with a decent of enough and then it turned into literally one of the worst movies I've seen in a while.
