Saying Usual Suspects is overrated is like saying Citizen Kane is overrated.

It's important to consider how long you have already felt the effects of these movies within the medium itself, before you actually watched them.

Right, but only because of the aforementioned reason.

Anything can be "overrated" if it's touted as groundbreaking for 80 years. Context matters.

lol Unusual Suspects was not groundbreaking in any way. If Citizen Kane's only groundbreaking attribute was the deep-focus cinematography, it'd be impossible to overrate it.

I didn't say that "Unusual Suspects" was groundbreaking, just that we have already felt its effect in cinema (similar to Citizen Kane.) Would have thought the "80 years" would have tipped you off to which one I was talking about.

Its not possible to call films over rated because of Shawshank Redemption.

A good solid watch, but absolutely no where close to being the elite tier god like phenomenon that people classify it as.

So compared to SSR US no way over rated.

3 good ones for me.

American Beauty was AWESOME. Not sure if it stands the test of time but I loved it back in the day but he was really good in it.

Seven was GREAT too but he had a smaller role in that.
