Did Blockbuster ever get a serious streaming service to market? Did they just move too slow on it? Also why did their by-mail thing fail so hard? Goddamn.

I figured out Disney's plan with their streaming service over in the Star Wars thread. They're going to announce 3-5 series in the Star Wars universe that are along the lines of the Marvel series, exclusive to the Disney streaming platform.

They tried to do streaming but it was far too late. By the time they entered the market Netflix had exclusive contracts with a number of production studios. The issue with their by mail thing was the same that you find with Gamefly. Too few distribution centers, too long for turnover, not enough copies of new releases, etc etc etc. It was terribly run.

He co-wrote them with Wes Anderson. I did not know that & I'm surprised, considered how different both films are to the films he writes/directs.

I enjoyed mindhunter. The one thing that bothered me was towards the end talking in the cabin they transported (I think in real life it was reconstructed and not moved.) How is Ford talking to Ted K without his lawyer present? Made no sense.

This was pretty good. For people who haven't seen the movie, I'd recommend watching the series first. The series is actually a prequel to the movie, and as such the movie has some spoilers related to the series.

Those who've seen it: anyone else not know what this is referring to?

After they capture Ted K they bring the cabin by helicopter to a big building.
Ford takes Ted K from jail to the cabin in the building/hangar.
Ford tells Ted K he needs to plead guilty so the mnaifesto won’t go unnoticed for the future. That it will all be worthwhile etc.
Ted K is represented by lawyers by now.
Ford can’t get him out of jail and talk to him without his lawyers present
Yet, this whole scene takes place without Ted K’s lawyers present.

The show recently released on Netflix is the series. Right?
I saw it and like it a lot.

What is the movie Suburra you are talking about?

Posted this in the Gen tv thread but didn't get any responses

The fiance and I are going through Shameless for the first time.

What's the general rankings of the seasons? We found s2 to be quite a bit weaker than s1 (hated the love triangle/Frank's mom stuff). Not to say s2 was bad or anything, just wondering about the general trajectory of the show.

I think s3 and s4 were the peak. Season 6 was the worst but season 7 was a nice rebound.

Probably something like 4>3>1>2>5>7>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>6

This. All the seasons are pretty comparable but season 6 was a chore.

Spoiler:
Season 6 lacked a lot of the fun. Debbie was insufferable, the stuff with Ian's mental health seemed to drag, the Fiona/Sean stuff was ugh. I don't think there was a single decent story line - even Carl sucked with the whole gangster business. Despite that I did think it picked up over the last 3 episodes once they fled the commune.

If you enjoyed Criminal Minds, you'll enjoy Mindhunter. It's set in the 70's and is about the beginnings of the Behavioral Science unit of the FBI. They chat up serial killers then use the information to hunt them. As a bonus it has a cool 1970's soundtrack. Not as cool as Vinyl's soundtrack but still pretty cool.

I thought Mindhunters was just okay, though the some of the scenes and acting were obviously excellent (see Kemper). Branched out into many different storylines, without ever really fleshing them out.
