The new movie "Cherry" on Apple was fairly good. About PTSD, Drug addiction and bank robbery. Kind of long at 2H20M.

Finished Ted Lasso, I am not a soccer fan at all. The show was decent. I don't get all the awards and praise.

Has anyone seen "Loudermilk"? Previously on Audience network, now Amazon picked it up and the 1st 2 season are now on Prime, 3 is already made and will air soon also and they are going to do several more seasons.

Its a comedy with Ron Livingston. Seems like it might be good.

it's really a shame that Daniel Day-Lewis backdoored an Oscar for his role in There Will Be Blood, the award being the second of his three Oscars for best actor, making him the only person in history to win three.

I mean TWBB just had perhaps the greatest performance by an actor of all time but ya aside from that what's the big deal.

Watched There Will Be Blood for the first time about a year ago and it’s the best acting performance I’ve ever seen. Movie was very good as well.

One thing I like about Billions is that they make an effort to try to add some authenticity and detail to a lot of the scenes.

Phil Helmuth as the poker announcer, John Danaher as the BJJ instructor, Mark Cuban as another billionaire sports team owner.

You me like in the 100+ scenes around trading computers and the charts never move. All frozen. Very realistic. lol

No, I mean in other shows they just gloss over scenes like that. Like they would just have some generic poker scene.

But they took the trouble to actually hire a known poker person and also include things like the mention of Black Friday in the dialogue.

I didn't mean to say the show was perfect lol. Just they had a lot of scenes where it was a nice touch of those details that you don't commonly see. But yeah please nitpick something else you saw that wasn't 100% accurate.

Not really a small nitpick. The show is about trading, so having some moving charts on the computers would make a lot of sense.

A bigger nit pick that I have will all shows is coffee cups from a store are always 100% empty. Of course they don't have to have steaming hot coffee in them. But for the love of God put half of cup of water in it, to weight it down so it doesn't look ridiculous when they are waiving them around. lol

I can't help it, I notice things.

i agree with the empty cups this tilts me.

Especially on a film/tv show when they take a sip and as its in the mouth they tilt/angle the cup to drink from it, if there was any liquid inside that cup they would be covered in it. I see this on so many shows/films you would think all the effort they put into these things making sure clothes are exact match of an era and so on that making sure cups have a weight in them at least to make it look realistic.

I've always been a little mystified than Ron Livingston never became a bigger star. Every role I've ever seen him in I've always thought he totally nailed, like perfectly even. And he's been in some very prominent things over the years too. I'll be glad to give this Loudermilk show a try if he's in it.

edit: heh I just started it, looks like my pal Ron got old and semi-fat, oh well I guess time'll do that to a man. I still like him.

2nd edit: hey this is good, and it has ex-drunks in it too.

Just finished off Last Kingdom. Very good, my only slight issue was the names.

I know it's pretty good with the historic accuracy but it can a bit confusing when there's: Aelswith, Aethelflaed, Alfred, Aethelwold, Aldhelm, Aethelred, Aethelhelm, Aelflaed, Aelfric, Aethelstan, Aelfweard, Aelfwynn, Aethelflaed, and King Aethelred, a lot of time being pronounced in their Danish accents.

Looking forward to the final season. The production value was good to start with but seems to have certainly jumped up when it moved to Netflix.

I didn’t finish s1 bc I was too tilted by plot armor. Uhtred was constantly in harrowing situations but there was no real suspense since he wasn’t going anywhere.

wow, I didn't realize daniel day lewis had been in so few movies, I IMDBed him and hes only got 30 acting credits. Which means he wins the best actor oscar 10% of the time, lol

Season 3 just seems completely off the rails. The storylines before were a stretch but I could roll with them. The storylines in season 3, so far, are beyond non-sensical.

I just can't see myself watching 7 more episodes.

obligatory John Cazale mention.
only in 5 films before his death. although he was never nominated for an Oscar, those 5 films were rather successful

The Godfather - nominated for 11, won 3
The Conversation - nominated for 3
Godfather II - nominated for 11, won 6
Dog Day Afternoon - nominated for 6, won 1
The Deer Hunter - nominated for 9, won 5

his 5 movies averaged 8 nominations and 3 Oscars
