With that said, there are insane number of amazing movies that you can't watch on any streaming service, which is pretty frustrating. Blue rays, I guess.

Um, what? Narcos is seriously some of the best TV of all time. The later seasons are somehow even better than the earlier ones.

GLOW is a masterpiece, 3rd season coming in August. Master of None is great, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't your thing. Dear White People is amazing and not talked about enough, from the concept to the presentation, it's incredibly well done. Godless is a great Western, Jeff Daniels will blow your mind as the villain. I haven't watched any of the superhero stuff, but my brother has nothing but praise for Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Punisher. I really love Altered Carbon, but I have a soft spot for anything cyberpunk and it admittedly has some flaws toward the end of the first season, second is in production. Similarly, Marco Polo is one I really enjoyed but I'm a history nut. The Last Kingdom is awesome.

These are just off the top of my head.

Or, y'know, just digitally rent or buy.

Season 1 of Narcos was a home run. Season 2 just ok, Season 3 sucked.

Okay, but have you ever considered that you are wrong and your opinion is bad?

Bojack, American vandal, mindhunter, dark, narcos. I think those are all Netflix originals and would recommend all.

A bigger, dumber movie could've had them discover a drug smuggling ring or Satanic cult or whatever, but instead all the drama comes from decisions the main characters make and because the characters are such everyman Joe types it's very easy to emphasize with them even as they do some pretty awful ****.
Sounds a lot like "Very Bad Things" in a less blackly comic style.

Theres a lot of stuff that one wouldnt expect to be good that was really really good as well. The new Ali Wong movie "Always be my Maybe" was one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. Incredibly funny and avoids the majority of the ****ty tropes you get in most other romcoms.

I tried Bloodline/Black Mirror/Riverdale/Orange is the New Black/Russian Doll/Bate Motel but wasn't into it.

At the end, Stranger Things is their only home run.

They should focus less on quantity and more on quality.
what is on your list of "quality" TV shows then? like 5 ever? Not every series can be the wire, that's why it's so great, but they have more that are good enough to watch than I have time to watch.

Not everything needs be a mystery. The predictable nature of the terrible consequences that follow the bad decisions the main characters make is the plot, it's what gives you the feeling of dread and tension that drives the last 2/3rds of the movie.

There's no twist, the village isn't the village from The Wicker Man, nobody is secretly in Al Qaeda, it's just two everyman protagonists doing normal 30 year old bro **** and then everything goes real bad and just keeps getting worse. You aren't there to learn what happens next, you can do that in 2 minutes on Wikipedia reading the plot summary. You're there to experience the ride. That's the genius of the movie, that is it so stripped down.
I get what you’re saying, and actually I really like stripped down plots with no hidden twists. Maybe my word “predictable” wasn’t the right word. I just thought the bad guys were a little too cliche (small town roughnecks out for vigilante justice, followed by internal gang political differences, and then the ending - which I thought was really cliche).

New season of Comedians in Cars has been up for a few days - just started and enjoyed both the Eddie Murphy and Seth Rogen eps.

If you don't mind subtitles, Dark is excellent.

I'm not really a superhero fan, but Jessica Jones and Daredevil are both really good. The umbrella academy is also really good.

Sex education is excellent. Master of none is really enjoyable as is Santa Clarita Diet. Travelers is good in a Lost kind of way where the characters are excellent but the plot is kind of dumb (but you sound pretty picky, so maybe avoid that one....surprised you liked stranger things season 3 honestly). The OA is great. There are a whole host of other shows that I thought were good, but wouldn't necessarily recommend as they are taste dependent, but the above Id recommend to anyone.

curious to know what movies it is you are trying to watch

Started watching Izombie...not bad if you're looking at some shallow entertainment. Apparently popular with teens, though I don't exactly get why.

Okay, I'm 20 minutes into the new sci-fi show, Another Life, and I can confidentially say that this might just be the worst TV show ever made on Netflix.

It is laughably bad.

yeah, Eddie Murphy was really interesting - he's a lot deeper person than I was expecting - and he still seems to have very good comic abilities.

let us not forget Eddie Murphy's glorious run of movies in the 90's when he seemed to dress up in fat suits and play 10 characters in every movie

Beverly Hills Cop III
Vampire in Brooklyn
The Nutty Professor
Metro
Mulan
Dr. Doolittle
Holy Man
Bowfinger
Nutty Professor II: The Klumps
