Re: Def Jam

IDK I laughed a lot, but I really enjoyed the original show too. YMMV apparently.

Long Shot: meh.

I remember the story as a news blurb when it happened. It was interesting as that, a 90-second news story.

Can't hold up for more than that, though.

"Long Shot"

Good documentary and definitely worth watching if you crush Netflix like I do.

Suburra

First episode is very good imo, tons of potential, looking forward to the rest. Subtitled show though if that's something that bothers you

I only heard the buzz on the internet. Didn't know what to expect. Watched the first episode and wasn't sure where it was going. After the second episode I was totally hooked. Very Silence of the Lambsish.

All the prison interviews were totally riveting. The guy playing Ed Kemper killed it.

I've found myself skipping the love interest scenes just to get back to the FBI/Prison itnerview stuff more quickly.

I rarely skip around, but the love interest scenes seem kind of forced and don't contribute much.

+1 on it being an interesting Drama series 3 episodes in though.

After 3 attempts I made it through "The Meyerowitz Stories (new and selected)"

It has Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman, and Ben Stiller.

It's an awkward comedy and at times borders absurdity. It wasn't laugh out loud funny but I found myself smirking occasionally. The stories are about a dysfunctional family trying to keep it together and mend broken relationships. It's relatable on some levels.

I didn't enjoy it. It has good ratings and am curious what others think.

85% Audience score on Rotten Tomatoes

I love Mindhunters, the Ed Kemper scene are great. Only show i want to watch at tge moment.

The romantic scenes are so short, i barely notice them.

yup I pretty much agree. I watched this last night only because some of it was filmed in my home town, Suffern, NY. It didn't look like this film had a very high budget.

I had to look him up. Yes but not many. I thought the Meyerowitz Stories had a Wes Anderson type of feel to it but now it makes sense.

I've seen Greenberg, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

I can't remember them too well. I liked the Life Aquatic the best of the 3.

The last two of those are by Wes Anderson.

Baumbach tends to do dramas based on the East Coast featuring dysfunctional, intellectual, often Jewish characters.

Knowing Blockbuster laughed Netflix out of the boardroom when they asked to join with Blockbuster as their streaming arm always makes stories like these way funnier. Well played, Blockbuster.

He wrote Life Aquatic and Fantastic Mr. Fox so I assume that would fall under some of his other work.
