I watched "Sin Nombre" last night. Interesting look at the MS gang in Central America and what some immigrants go through making their way to the US. Definitely recommend.

I had a US History class in high school taught by a priest who simply did not care about the subject after the Civil War. So after we got through that he gave us all take home assignments and tests and showed movies during class (and also let us go to the pizza place on campus during class in twos so we could get food and drink). Dog Day Afternoon was one of the movies he showed us. Hell of a movie, I've seen it a couple of times since, definitely recommend. We also saw Major League, and other films which ostensibly had nothing to do with learning about the history of the U.S., but DDA was probably my favorite.

PS Not long before the semester ended some cockjousting student complained to his parents about lack of learning and he had to stop showing the movies.

Details on where you got a year for $30? My renewal is coming up.

Never mind on the Intervention question, found it on their site and added some seasons to my watch instantly queue on Xbox, so looking forward to watching some meth pros and Jeff Van Vondervon later on today.

Franchise, $30 is pretty sick, but I got a twelve month renewal this week at Costco for $39. I also got Halo Reach and $10 off with purchase of both at the same time (they were charging $52 for Reach on its own). If you are also looking to buy Reach that means you can get both for $81 + tax, which seems like a good deal.

Recent attempts to renew at a discounted rate of $39.99 thru XBox failed because I was already running a special, so not sure if you can get them back-to-back, or at least without a third party.

Anything you can view on Instant should have a DVD or Blu-Ray counterpart that you can have delivered.

Is that what you're asking?

They are talking about X-Box Live subscription prices. You have to have X-Box live to watch instantly on 360.

It just showed up on my dashboard. It was something related to Halo Reach's launch.

Not sure how often stuff like this happens, but every time I want to get gold back, it seems like a deal popped up in a week for me.

I'd imagine it's just lucky coincidence.

They are pimping the $30 for the one year subscription because Reach is out and they have high traffic.

It's worth it to do it now if you are within a few months of running out. Don't forget that the price is going up to $60 per year later.

Seems like I'm the only one with a problem with the alternate history though, so...Definitely a good theater film. Probably would have been 3D if it had come out after Avatar.

If you liked 'Hostel' then I recommend 'Train'. A group of American athletes touring Europe, party all night, and miss their ride to the next meet. They encounter a strange woman at the train station who invites them to take the train she is on, but will they get to their destination? Mwuhahahaha

I really enjoyed 'The Damned United' (thanks to somebody in this thread for recommending it). It's about a kickball manager who held the job managing the best team in the U.K., Leeds United, for the shortest duration in league history and the events that led up to his eventual dismissal.

Watched the 'Red Riding Trilogy' about serial murders and police corruption in Yorkshire during the 1970's and early '80's. I didn't like the first one until the very end (thought the main character was a pussy), but I enjoyed the 3 movies as a whole.

'Special' with Michael Rappaport had me alternating laughing my ass off at and feeling very sorry for the main character. A man testing medications believes he has developed super powers. Pretty good flick.

'Veronica Mars' made me go back and look at everything I could find that Kristen Bell has ever been in (Did you know she was in Deadwood?) I love her so much. I actually feel my pupils dilating whenever I see her.

I'd been avoiding 'Friday Night Lights' (the series) for years because I didn't like the movie very much, but I've watched a half dozen episodes now and I love it.

Been a while since I've seen it but I remember liking it okay.

Spoiler:
"Artsy" chick annoyed me though. As though there are no liberal hipster artfags for her to associate with in Bloomington, IN, or any other large state university for that matter. STFU and go to college you dumb **** you aren't a special snowflake.

Yeah, I watched that last week. It's alright if all you want is to watch someone go postal. There isn't a lot to the movie, but it's entertaining.

6 and 7 are bad imo. Not sure if I remember 5.

Mary and Max

Claymation film (for adults). Great writing and very memorable characters. Pretty dark but also has its funny moments. I didn't think I could enjoy an animated movie that much. Very pleasant surprise.

Oh and it has the voice of PSH, so you can't go wrong there.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - TV series - 22 episodes, basically a one season and done show. Didn't need a second season, resolved nicely. Good drama with great comedic relief.

Entertainment moguls, eccentric comedians and corporate politics detonate in this behind-the-scenes dramedy about a popular late-night comedy sketch show, offering a cynical view of neurotic on-air talent and egomaniacal network execs. Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford lead the ensemble cast as creative team Matt Albie and Danny Tripp in this no-nonsense series created by Aaron Sorkin

Mulholland Drive - Movie - Drama

Writer-director David Lynch weaves another mysteriously complex tale in this story about an amnesiac woman (Laura Herring) who's left stranded on Mulholland Drive and gets taken in by a young newcomer (Naomi Watts) who's moved to Hollywood to pursue her dreams. The two women gradually start to put the pieces of a troubling puzzle together, but the puzzle unravels a dark, sinister plot -- as well as unexpected passions.

Control - Movie - Thriller

Lee Ray Oliver (Ray Liotta) -- a sociopath a few cans short of a six-pack -- secretly gets a second chance to duck death row when pioneering scientist Miles Copeland (Willem Dafoe) uses Oliver as a test subject for an experimental drug designed to stifle violent tendencies. Oliver assumes a new life under an alias but his killer instinct remains strong … too strong.

I know it's just come out today but has anyone compared the content between the US and CDN versions? I tried to run a search based on a few television shows such as 24 and x-files (which others had mentioned watching on the US versions) and came up with 0 hits.

I know it's only $7.99/month but I want to make sure it isn't some scaled down version. I know we can't get Hulu here because of copyright issues so I wonder if the same thing happened with Netflix's television content.
