At a cost of nearly one billion dollars, Netflix on Tuesday said it would add films from Paramount Pictures, Lions Gate and MGM to its online subscription service.

It was a coup — albeit a costly one — for Netflix, which knows its needs to lock up the digital rights to films as customers stop receiving DVDs by mail and start receiving streams via the Internet. The deal will commence Sept. 1.

Same here. Blu ray won the format war with HD-DVD, but I'd say its a hollow victory (though I'm still paying the extra fee for blu ray on my account).

Yea she was suppose to look 17, she looks older starting in Season 2 and 3.

Also, I just moved to a new apt and the guy who I was in contact with to set up my cable screwed up the initial appointment to get it installed, so he hooked me up with HBO+Starz for free to make up for it and scrolling through the channels (there's like 7 of them total) I've found a surprising amount of overlap with my Netflix queue and already managed to fill up my DVR with HD movies in like 4 days.

Yeah, Netflix WI basically has everything(?) Starz has. You can even watch Starz TV shows the same day the shows air, before they even air. I used to watch Spartacus on Friday mornings when I woke up, when it aired later that night.

The HBO overlap is new to me. Does that just happen because of the studio behind the movie? i.e., Paramount movies on HBO show up because Paramount is with NF?

Just found one of my favorite movies of all time on here. A Very Long Engagement. Stars Audrey Tautou and directed by Jeunet (same as Amelie which is another one of my favorite movies). It's a love story set around WW1.

To clarify, I was referring to overlap w/ my DVD queue, although a lot of that DVD queue is also WI and I'm prob an idiot for not noticing the StarzPlay thing.

A lot of StarzPlay stuff isn't in HD though.
