I just put this in my instant queue and can't wait to watch it

The "Girl with Dragon Tatoo" books are much better than the movies, having read 2 and seen 1. I thought movie 1 was pretty lolbad, especially in comparison to the book.

I just got a flyer in the mail about EPIX and VUTOPIA (from Cox, my cable provider) and it basically seems like they are starting there own Netflix (online streaming, monthly fee instead of per movie, etc). Anyone know anything about this? It says as low as $2/month, but knowing Cox there are 409584093 fees on top of that which will make it much more expensive.

Speaking of Prison Break, any of you guys all caught up on that?

I watched seasons 1 and 2, thought 1 was very entertaining, 2 quite a bit weaker. I really didn't like the main story arc (conspiracy theory stuff) so I just decided to pull the plug there.

Pretty bored lately so might revisit if you guys recommend it.

Let me know what you think. Another gem is This Is England which is a fantastic low budget coming of age with a twist story with an exceptional rookie lead performance by Thomas Turgoose.

It's pretty bad...but the last couple episodes and the finale are pretty good. Season 1 was so great and huge fail after.

Season 1 of Dollhouse has been available for a while, and I'd recommend you give it a go. It's from the same creator of Buffy and Firefly, not as good as the latter but similar in wit and balance between standalone episodes and over-arching story. The larger story that they slowly reveal is very interesting, and the actors do a great job with each of their roles.

The premise is a secret organization that has people, or "dolls", that they can implant memories Matrix style to custom tailor a personality. These dolls are used for anything from the perfect fling to hostage negotiations or spy work. The interesting part is how they play the bad and good guys. The director of the dollhouse believes in what she is doing, while the main "handler" for the protagonist truly cares for his assignment. Several BSG regulars make appearances on the show, and Alan Tudyk (Wash, from Firefly) makes a killer entrance in episode 11.

The first few episodes pale against the greatness of Firefly, but around episode 7 or 8 it starts to shed the cheesiness and pick up some real heft. The first 6 I hear were forcibly written as standalone, so that's why it picks up steam at 7. I believe it, as it's noticeably more engaging right at episode 7, so if you want you can just start at episode 7 if you have trouble getting through the first 6.

My guess is the network execs decided Dollhouse was a goner around halfway through season one and stopped interfering with Whedon (since they didn't want their fingerprints on a loser), thus allowing Joss to turn a crappy focus-group driven piece of mush into an interesting series.

I can't believe I made it through all of Nip/Tuck. It really wasn't worth it after s3.

I was thinking about starting that. Correct to assume it's worth it to watch S1,2,3?

In general it starts off interesting and just goes downhill each season, so I'd just watch until you have an inkling that you're getting sick of it, because it probably won't get better. My recommended cutoff is after s2 or s3.
