She's explaining how the subtitles are not quite translating the real meaning sometimes
I love pointing out flaws in translations and the subtleties the translation doesn't do justice but the girl in the video tilts me too much to get past 30 seconds

Lol you guys must be new here if you're surprised about Dom's spoilers. If he's talking about something you haven't seen the pro move is to just scroll past his comments

Yeah she's trying too hard to assert her knowledge and the idea that the translations are missing meaning. I think her points about the woman's character being misrepresented are decent, but the second one doesn't seem like a big deal at all. "There is no ownership" and "We share everything" seem close enough to me; in fact, I don't really see a meaningful difference. Certainly not enough to get so tilted that you need to go lie down.

Streaming, bingeing and the endless expansion ad absurdum of what constitutes "spoiling" have made good discussion of TV shows impossible.

Highly recommend super size me 2 on prime. It's about the chicken industry-have fun learning what free range really means

Spurlock sucks, and not for these things

Sharing everything means one is willingly giving something to some other party, and that can be ended unilaterally. No ownership means something is a public good, which can not be taken away by any one party. It's definitely a meaningful difference, and is particularly relevant given the themes of the show.

I'm on the side of, "The translation is good enough," so it's kinda whatever, but I do think the more accurate translation would be better.

Watched The Many Saints of Newark last night. New release on HBOMax. Meh. It's ok, I guess, but not even close to the standard set by The Sopranos. I was surprised to learn from the credits that Young Tony was played by Gandolfini's son. During the show I was thinking they did a really good job of casting the kid, he looked so much like Tony. Was good to see Silvio too, I didn't realize I missed him so much, lol.

Like I said I watch with dubbing and subtitles on. It's comical when the subtitle is shown before the character speaks and the sentence is so ridiculous you just know there is no way the two are gonna match.

I liked it even though it wasn't great (It's hard to live up to the series). I liked the storyline and the fact that they gave a small amount of nostalgia without overdoing it. I also feel like a few more prequels could be made.

It needed more Silvio.

Yeah, I did like it, it just didn't live up to how much I'd hyped it up in my head.

Spoiler:
Thought for sure that Dickie was going to be Tony's first kill. Him or Harry.

Spoiler:
It's been a while, but I thought Willie Overall was Tony's first kill. The fact that Leon Overall was in the movie is part of the reason I said there could be multiple prequels.

I liked the Dickie story which I thought explained why Tony hated Junior, but again it's been a while and maybe I am missing why he was dead to Tony

Also watched The many saints of Newark

spoilers inside

Spoiler:

i didnt know silvio wore a wig, am i missing something from the sopranos here ? i have watched it several times never a mention of a wig on silvio, even when Ralphs wig is mentioned i don't recall silvio mentioned or anything like that ? obviously he loved combing his and keeping it pristine but i really didn't think not even once its a toupee

When Johnny (dad) goes to Jail and then comes out Tony is like a 16 yr old ? or so.
But what about the scene from the sopranos i think it's Tony's first blackout after the dad chops the guy with the chopper/meat cleaver ?
unless its another time he went Jail after the fairground arrest ? it says 5yrs minimum 2yrs but many years pass and i suppose its in between this.

i was lost with this guy Joey Diaz who played "The buddha" was full sure this was big pussy when younger and was saying to myself jesus he looks older in this than in the sopranos....but its a different character altogether. imo that isn't great casting there. Woulda been better if it was his dad or something seeing as they look so alike and same voices nearly. (thats just me nitpicking)

In general i liked it, and i look forward to the next one.

Netflix selection has been kind of disappointing lately. I’ve been using Kanopy streaming. It’s free, just need a library card.

Some interesting selection.

Watched King Of New York. It’s a fun ride.

Has my favorite gambling movie Hard Eight.
