Not on Netflix, but holy crap The Handmaid's Tale is worth a free 30 day trial Hulu sub on it's own.

Can't believe I'm saying this since Mad Men is 1 of my top shows ever made, but THIS is the role Elizabeth Moss will be best remembered for.

Yep. I chime in every time I see it mentioned to tell people to watch. I have no idea why it gets so little love here. The show is ****ing amazing, and I hate almost everything on TV.

The Look of Silence is a haunting documentary about murder and coping with revenge. A sequel of sorts to The Act Of Killing. This one hit me just as hard.

Glad to see Handmaid's Tale getting the love it deserves. I have never felt more on the edge watching ANYthing on either the big screen or small screen, ever. It's fantastic, I watched it all in 3 days

The Dr Strange comment is umm to put it politely "Strange," but the sentiment behind it is not, yes netflix's film offerings have gone downhill in the past year or 2. but so has the overall quality of feature films. With the idea of "binge watching" becoming more and more socially accepted, TV shows have IMO exceeded the ability of films to explore topics in a more detailed manor than any feature film ever could.

Are there any hulu originals besides Handmaid's Tale to justify a sub?

I've just discovered Handmaid's tale is on SBS demand in Australia. Very excited! Loved the book.

There's a stephen king mini series dealing with JFK conspiracy starring James Franco, 11-22-63, that was kinda fun, and The Path starring Aaron Paul is also an interesting one.

I didn't mind The Path. It wasn't top level but it was quite an interesting subject matter.

11-22-63 sucked imo. I can't stand Hulu, would ditch it if the gf didn't love it. Handmaids Tale was great though.

This is correct. Don't let it turn you off from the book though, it is one of King's all time best.

I don't hate James Franco like many, and anything Stephen King is always worth a shot imo, although I wouldn't say this one was particularly great, but didn't think it sucked either. Spot on assessment above about The Path as well. I will say if it wasn't Aaron Paul (and also the actor who plays the lead 'villain' Cal), it wouldn't have been as easy to stick with it.

I also like Hulu for some random network shows that you can't get without cable... like Designated Survivor as an example. Nice mix of 24 and Homeland of a show.

Agree about handmaids tale obv, and in the same boat with the gf wanting her reality tv silliness, so at least there are these consolations to keep it worthwhile to me.

The ending to the book is generally considered one of his best ever (King is notoriously terrible at endings.)

I'll leave it at that. If you have any interest in King or historical fiction at all, it's 100% worth a read.

If you do end up reading it, share your thoughts. Considering the age King is at and the fact that some of his recent books have been less than stellar, I wouldn't have imagined him releasing a top 5 favorite book of mine in 2011, but there it is. If you are a fan of the SKU, there is some overlap as well which is nice for constant readers.

Just got a notification that Last Chance U (documentary about a junior college football program in Mississippi) season 2 is available - had no idea this was even coming, but season 1 was phenomenal so this is exciting.
