While this did apparently prove not to be FOS, it also only took half a day more to hit reputable news than the fringe sites, so I stand by waiting for reputable reporting. Also, I also see nothing that says this incident was "faked." Instead I see evidence of the incident as having been very unfortunate but not apparently malicious.

As was this whole damn forum who has this NEED to believe that things are worse than they really are.

Its really quite brutal when a person is mocked just for presenting a differing opinion than the one being spinned.

That bolded bit that I thin you're representing as a quote is not from this ESPN article that you linked. That article does not even have the words "manual garage doors" or "hand-loops." If you have evidence of those being standard from a real news source, I'll happily check it out, but not RT, or conservativetreehouse, etc.

I also note that it wasn't Wallace who found the thing and called it a noose, according to that ESPN article. It was "a crew member for Richard Petty Motorsports." I'll also note that Richard Petty drove at Talladega for many, many years. So if that was standard on those garages, he would probably be telling people to calm down, not expressing his anger.

What a crazy story that was created of some white supremest being upset that Bubba got rid of all the Confederate flags and this was payback.

My mistake. I was looking at the link wetleg posted. However, your link also says nothing about additional ropes being tied that way.

And just because someone broke something first does not mean that they are therefore a trustworthy source. Vital Vegas is famous for breaking things first, because they publish every rumor they hear. They're wrong about half the time from what I hear, so the fact that it's there is not credible evidence that it must be true. It's just strong evidence that the rumor is out there.

Yes this is not a traditional source and I had never heard of it before today.
BUT BUT BUT the point is they had actual LEGIT pictures of note and a video as backup to the claims. The story was presented in a way that AT LEAST deserved a fair look whereas the NOOSE story being told by general media was just supposed to be taken as fact without any kind of photographic evidence.

Instead of saying "Hey lets not assume the worst so fast" Multiple Mods and posters knocked the source/evidence and continue to knock it even after they were right.

I said from the very beginning that if this was a mistake the legitimate sources would be all over it. And they are. It is the #1 story on CNN right now.

Maybe if you had heard of your source before, you would understand people's reaction. That source is a very well known site for biased and often factually inaccurate stories. Even if it partially correct this time, it doesn't follow that the rest of its narrative is legit.

So as I said, if legit sources start saying that these loops are standard, that will make this thing seem even more blown out of proportion, but that still doesn't make it a conspiracy.
