I don't think anyone is surprised that happened in Talladega. Twice a year we drive through Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama on our way to Georgia and pass Talladega on the way. Fair to say that a lot of people down there really like their confederacy flags and probably are very upset about recent developments.

NASCAR obviously has a huge problem because their core fan base is in states that are already left behind economically and that gap is only getting wider. Hard to get a lot of TV money when the broadcasting stations can't advertise to affluent viewers.

FWIW, Bubba Wallace is not only black but also was born in Alabama. I'm pretty sure it's extra frightening and disappointing to have that happen to you in your home state where people are supposed to support you.

Its strong evidence of a ridiculous attempt to suggest that everyone in NASCAR is so dumb that they can't tell the difference between a noose and a normal rope loop. Not only that but an army of cops investigating the thing are also unable to recognize this "obvious" solution that some bozo figured out with just a couple of old, blurry photographs.

Also, the defining feature of a noose is that the loop slides up and down when you apply force on it so that the knot tightens. Its kind of important because that's how a noose works. It would be the stupidest possible knot to tie at the end of a rope you intended to use to pull a door shut with.

Okay rope expert which Im sure that most people arent and would just
see the "noose" part and call it such

You don't think the fact that literally no real news sources have picked up on this is an indication that its likely FOS?

I mean yes, sometimes things are misinterpreted as nooses, but when that happens, it is all over the news. So don't try to say that the "mainstream media is afraid to publish anything that goes against the dominant narrative." Now it's possible that this is developing and will show to be a misunderstanding, but there definitely isn't strong evidence of anything so far, much less "yet ANOTHER false/fake racial hate type incident."

Weaver is just some random car reporter who probably tends to block people who make crackpot claims. I have quite a bit of sympathy for him and am inclined to do the same.
