+1 on Fast Car & Ain't No Sunshine.

Lots of versions of this, and ofc skinhead oconnor's is amazing and linked earlier in this thread, but I think my favorite may be Cornell:

Chris Cornell: Nothing Compares 2 U

Concrete Blonde: Joey

Eskobar & Heather Nova: Someone New

George Jones : She Thinks I Still Care

Good ones. My dad was a big Cat Stevens fan and I remember him asking me to listen to Father and Son, with him, when I was probably 11 and I cried tears listening to it.

Fast forward 30+ years and I bought my dad and I tickets to see Colm Wilkinson. Colm and his son were supposed to sing Father & Son together but alas the son was ill and didn’t make that show. That’s not why we went to see him, in fact I didn’t mention it to my dad that I saw it was on his set list. I thought it would be a cool surprise.

Anyway, all the parent/child songs get me sappy. “Forever Young” Rod Stewart, “With Arms Wide Open” Creed...

IT’S TERRIBLE

Can't listen to this song very often because it makes me cry thinking of my mum.

Took my mum to see Neil. He was incredible live. Would like to see Neil Young live if I can.

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen is both the saddest and most beautiful song.

+1 to Joey, Concrete Blonde

Bill Withers GOAT. This song makes me tingle when he hits the long note.

Written by Zevon as he was dying of cancer.
"I'm tied to you like the buttons on your blouse" - that line gets me every time.

Also Jason Isbell, If We Were Vampires - beautiful song about life with the person you love not being long enough. Lyrics are just fantastic.

If We Were Vampires has been posted at least one other time in this thread...
....doesn't matter, still a very sad song that's worth hearing again.
