i'm sorry, i shouldn't have been so hard on you. i mean really, your list runs the gamut, all the way from "sad bro anthem by current butt rockers" to "staple gloomy alt-rock tracks from the 90's that lack any real emotional depth" to "radio-friendly introspective ballads by over the hill bands who have also written much better, sadder songs in the past" to "stuff my dad likes that is suprisingly not gay and also sad at the same time," even with a few actual sad and good songs that i assume must have been an accident.

it's enough to make me a little misty, at least until the dj drops some nickelback and i forget all my worries! a veritable cornucopia of minor chords and appropriately masculine admissions of regret!

You're really sophisticated and obviously more intelligent then anyone on this forum...You definitely have a superior taste in music then the other degens on here...

Do you have any suggestions relevant to the OP's question or do you just make witty posts about other peoples' preferences in music to feel better about yourself and boost your inflated ego on an internet forum?

Sorry Slick, but this is 100% accurate.

Time to broaden those musical horizons.

I don't know. How does one go about "broadening musical horizons" anyways. I just listed a couple songs I thought were generally sad. I wasn't trying to show off my musical tastes to everyone and impress you all.

I think this thread is getting derailed...

HEM - Half Acre

It may not actually be sad but it is pretty haunting. Which is like sad.

Dunno how I didn't list these in my first post, as they are five of my favorite songs, period, but these songs absolutely wreck me.

Lives - Modest Mouse

"It's hard to remember we're alive..."

Five Years - David Bowie

"Never thought I'd need so many people."

Do You Realize - The Flaming Lips

"Instead of saying all of your goodbyes..."

Soup - Blind Melon

"And now I'll close my eyes really, really tight and make you all go away, I'll make you all go all go away."

Pale Blue Eyes - VU

"Linger On."

i have to disagree, Trent Reznor's version is deeper and more emotional.

NIN- Is actually the only Band/soloist who has sad songs that I like. I stand corrected.
