Howard,

Have you read the rules sticky yet? Can you plainly see how sports and politics are in the same category of discussion topics?

If you are merely arguing for what is de facto the case, well then, have you read this forum lately, even outside of Ms OOT threads? As a practical matter, there are plenty of politics mentions all over the place. You should know this better than anyone...

Ah dids - whatever happened to him? Not been around - since Nov 2016 is it? 2plus2 trading his departure with ikes it seems. But I know one thing he would be revelling in this contest if he were here.

WOW WOW WOW turns out howard treesong himself, the so-called "independent arbiter" of who gets to vote in the contest has been the one brigadiering all along for the Tournament Events subforum. Completely vindicates AOC!

Are people now happy with the choice of pics/ bio in the AOC OP? Please suggest any changes you would like to see (e.g. different pics).

It was rather sporting of posters who don't regularly post here to come by & vote, should they all eat a ban Howard?

Haha, that's a little harsh. He did lose a lot of weight, never forget. He wasn't totally without merit, liked his cats and his weed and his rasslin. At times had a witty way with words as well. I hope he's prospering up in Washington there. You could do a lot worse than Dids!

Sports are banned?!? Well **** me running. I stand corrected. Didn't seem to be an issue last year when I nominated SDSU's very own Paige Spiranac.

Is it because golf isn't really a sport?

Minimalist vigorously protests against you posting a video full of sports content, which is a clear violation. Typical sports douche mentality - "As long as I'm in the right, it's OK to break the rules."

Heh, as you slowly seem to be gaining awareness of on your own: it's because no one gives a **** about "no X in OOT" until all of a sudden they do. By your logic, you could replace "sports" with "politics" and "Paige Spiranac" with "Tomi Lahren" or "Ivanka Trump".

Yes, it would. I rarely write things like that and rarely will. If that were a routine-style post, OOT would be far less enjoyable than it is. I think goofy’s posting ITT is poor and misinformed and stubborn; hence my hostility.

Patron,

There is a long-running small-stakes sports betting thread here in OOT, in which I’d be a little surprised to find any significant number of posts from either you or goofy. So too in the Nima Jooyandeh thread: innits various incarnations, that’s hundreds of thousands of posts, many about Nima’s idiotic sports theories and bets. I do not recall a single post saying that the sports discussion is in any way inappropriate in either one.

In contrast, a fair plurality of politics posts here in OOT get criticism. Certainly not every one, but sports and politics are treated very differently.

Your friend,

Howard

Howard,

I am well aware of those threads. That does not change the facts that:

1) According to the forum's rules, sports and politics fall under the same category, to be theoretically treated in a similar way.

2) According to de facto what occurs in this forum, there are plenty of casual politics mentions which do not draw moderator action, which you are undoubtedly aware of, since you are the author of some of these posts.

3) If your only point is that sports posts are not "criticized" the way politics posts are, well then, okay, but that's not what was originally being discussed, and that's also not much of a point, as there are plenty of things around here that get "criticized" more than those sports posts.

Goofy’s incorrect position is that “nobody cares about off-topic posting in OOT until they do.

No so. Politics routinely get criticized, sports do not. Nor does poker in posts like my TRs, which are routinely complimented.

OOT is actually pretty consistent about these rules and has been for years. Do they fully align with the sticky rules? No, but that wasn’t and isn’t goofy’s point.

I generally respect your posting but you’ve just got this one wrong.

Your Friend,

Howard
