Tip: you are under no obligation to "explain yourself" for anything. Writing mini-essays to defend your position (one in another subforum, no less) is a serious misappropriation of personal energy if you aren't actually having fun with it. Outside of "not running the contest at all", I would have suggested either of these options, depending on how you felt:

(a) continuing the contest with no attempt at intervention (after all, what happened was a logical consequence of the rules in place at the beginning and choices made about who entered the field, choices you had essentially dictatorial oversight over);

(b) explaining calmly that AOC would be DQ'd due to the brigading, not engaging in any subsequent arguments past a very minimal level, and continuing the contest as before.

Anyway, your time, energy, and attention is yours alone.
