yes I do, I have a bad astigmatism, which makes contacts super expensive for me.

At some point within the next 5 years I will get the corrective surgery. I hate wearing glasses.

No. I have a slight astigmatism, and glasses would help, but not near enough to make it worth it. But if I ever want to wear glasses to look hip or something I always have an excuse.

i have both. i wear glasses in teh morning when i wake up, and then i put on contacts.

i used to just wear my glasses, but i never liked how i looked in them. then, i got contacts, and wore them for a year, and then I was like "meh, its kind of a pain in the ass to put these in every morning", so i went back to my glasses. then, over the summer, i broke my glasses, so they look ridiculous, so i only wear them when i'm alone when i wake up.

I forgot to mention that I have been using my current pair for about 10 years. Maybe it's time for a replacement.

I normally wear contacts (well contact, because my right eye doesn't like them and isn't as bad as my left), but once a month or so I will put my glasses on and think, hey! I look cute in my glasses! Why don't I wear them more often? And then halfway through the day I will see myself in a mirror or window or something and be like UGH WHAT WAS I THINKING THESE LOOK TERRIBLE WTF!! And then it is another month until I wear them again. I always get compliments on them, though, so maybe it is just me.

Yes, but contacts for sports. Don't be hung up about touching your eyes its something that you get used to in time.

my contacts aren't made of glass afaik. they're like soft plastic dood. and they aren't itchy...They do stick to my eyeballs, though.

Actually, lately they've been making my eyes really dry

How do you do this? Ive never had a pair last longer then 2 yrs most 1 yr or so. So much random **** happens to me and/or my glasses that they never last long.

I wore glasses from the time I was in 4th grade until 7th grade. In 7th I got contacts and wore them until I graduated from high school. After high school I went to basic training and had to wear glasses. I never went back to contacts. I wore glasses after that until 2006 when I got Lasik.

My last pair lasted 7 or 8 years and then died of straight up metal fatigue. It wasn't even at a joint, the frame just exploded in my hand one day. Further, this happened right before I was going to a conference and didn't have time to get a new set before the conference. I ended up using epoxy to bond the frame to the lens; it held together until the plane ride home from the conference. The 5 minute epoxy looked basically indistinguishable from the lens unless you were right next to it. It was definitely a top 10 lifetime nerd moment for me.

i wear glasses for a couple days at the end of each month after i take my contacts out...and during august i have horrible allergies for a couple weeks so i end up wearing glasses until i return to normal

i don't mind the look of glasses and would probably wear them all the time if they weren't so inconvenient

contacts bug the **** out of me and i constantly have this fear of one falling out, so i developed this nervous tick where i look up so i can feel the lense on my eyelid, but it just looks like i'm rolling my eyes at people, so they think i'm a dick or something.

funny thing is, my eye sight is so bad, if one drops out, i instantly know, cause everything gets all blurry in one eye.

someday i hope to have enough scratch to have lasers shot into my eyeballs.

Wore contracts for years, and have been on glasses for about the last like 5. Strongly prefer glasses. I hated having to wake up enough to get my contacts out of my eyes at night, and be awake enough to get them in in the morning.

Is there any benefit to getting laser surgery now while my eyes are just barely bad (like 20/50)? Or can I wait until I can better afford it and risk my eyes getting worse in the meantime?

I got glasses way earlier than most people (in first grade) and have never looked back. It seems like I only hear complaints from people who wear or have worn contacts, and I'm so used to glasses on my face that it's hard to imagine not wearing them. For awhile when I was little they took up about half my face though, so most old pictures of me look ridiculous.
