Whoa! Richmond VA or CA? I saw a lane-splitter get punted on the bridge in CA a few months ago. The guy let out a sickening sound when he got hit.

CA.
I wasn't lane splitting she was just on a cell phone and didn't look and ran me over.
I high sided and flew about 60 feet and would've died if I didn't have absolute top of the line protection.

I posted some pretty gnarly pics of my injuries (they were pretty serious) back when it happened few years ago.

I ended up replacing the gixxer with a ducati and while I love my duc the gixxer was far and away my fav bike.

such a joy to ride.

Dayyum..

Couldn't you sue the driver for the injuries sustained as a result of her negligence or does the insurance company look after you?
Can't let that driver get away with that kind of BS.

I've almost been hit three times by cars at T-junctions. Luckily, in all cases, the drivers noticed me at the last second and were able to stop about 2m clear from me.

Yikes. That bridge looks scary as hell on a bike. Between the winds and steel expansion joints which are slippery as hell when wet (my M3 used to move around when I crossed them) and the low side rails which look like you could fly right over into the bay, it seems like a less than fun ride.

Only problem, it's Winter here in Sydney
So 70 degrees and occasional overcast? Sounds like perfect riding weather.

I stand corrected. 70 degree daytime riding = perfect.
Night time riding however is a bit too cold for my liking.
(I was thinking about my recent rides which were all at night).

It's summer in Kansas right now. Putting on my safety gear is horrible, though I have a perforated riding jacket, so once the airflow gets going at about 30mph+ it's OK. Some days it is just way too hot to ride, though.

In my younger days, my buddy and I took a week-long road trip from southern Arizona through northern Arizona and Vegas in June. It was hot enough in Vegas (100+) for our air-cooled bikes to be on the verge of overheating and they would ping like crazy leaving a red light. When I thought I couldn't stand the heat any longer, I visualized my skin being scraped off by the pavement in a laydown, and the heat didn't bother me as much.

on the day of my accident it was triple digits.
I had my heavy armored jacket on and at least ppl said something to the effect of "I can't believe you are wearing all that gear in this heat!".

always wear your gear.

+1

Made a promise to myself that if it's too hot to wear my gear, it's too hot to ride. I have two perfectly good cars and I bought the motorcycle for fun. Sweating like a hog is not fun, so I won't do it, but neither is road rash. If I can't ride safely and have fun, I just won't ride.

I got a perforated jacket and pants. That's the best I'm going to do and I don't wear the pants most of the time.

Not a Harley and not a BMW. My wife rides too (not on mine, her own) and she is too short for most BMW. Triumph, Suzuki, Yamaha, Guzzi, Ducati ideally. Between say 550 and 900cc.

RBK got into an accident and is hurt pretty badly. It was posted in The Lounge.

Mostly entirely unrelated, but I'm gonna sell my Honda 919.
