Both, really.
Particularly on work days, I naturally eat on an IF schedule where all my eating is within a specific 4-6 hour window (between when I get up and when I go to work), and I'm aiming to only eat within a specific target of calories for that day. There's always a day or two in there where I decide to eat only fruit (sub 500 calories) or not eat at all. But I'm not really rigid, meaning I don't have set "fast days" each week that I've planned out weeks in advance. I usually look at my schedule and see what's going on that week and which days make the most sense in terms of minimal disruptions. Or if the week looks extraordinarily busy or stressful, I won't have a pure fast day that week, just because it can make me a bit lightheaded, depending on the length of time. And if at any point I feel physically off, like abnormally weak or slightly sick, I'll simply eat something rather than continue fasting just because the calendar says so.
