By now I think you're just trolling for whatever reason. None of the staples like potatoes, pasta and rice cooks in less than 10 minutes. How long does it take for you to just boil a gallon of water on your stove to cook a pound of pasta?

Somebody opened a thread about meal prep and you come in to tell people how stupid that is and how you make everything in under 10 minutes. Sometimes I wonder how people decide to do stuff like that.

I will leave this thread to you all.

Typical 2+2.

Enjoy your meal plans.

I mean dude, come on. You went from "nothing should take longer than 10 mins in a pan besides a chilli/bolognaise/curry/stew" to "what I'm saying is true for a lot of meals." Way to stay defensive while bringing the goalpost way in and mocking someone for finding that quinoa need more than 10 minutes as though it was some weird technicality. Trust me, I cook a lot of staples, and even basic starches often need more than 10 minutes in a pan.

What you are saying may be true for a "lot" of meals, in a numeric sense, but it is nowhere close to true in a "with only a few counter-examples" sense.

Thanks I got Qdoba last night at 40% off and with $25 min. purchase via UberEats I got a free chicken queso burrito as well.

Best Meal Prepping I've done in a while!

I'd much rather get a bowl from Qdoba than a burrito. Bowl you get pickled onions, pickled jalapenos, guacamole, fajita veggies.

i think its quite common for people to lose track of time while cooking. I also thought i can throw something together real quick in 10 minutes until i "timed" myself by putting on a tv show on my tablet and realised it takes me closer to 30 minutes.

The "McSeafield Survivor" under your name took me down a trip memory lane and the good old days in "our forum". I wonder what happened to that guy.

FWIW, another reason why we roast veggies in batches is to save energy. Obviously doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things but I hate for the oven to run almost empty at 425F for 45 minutes. Once the veggies are out, I even try to use the already heated oven for cookies/cakes/pies as often as possible.

There's also the fact that "prep" in the context of a professional chef isn't the total time from raw ingredients, to ready to put on a plate.

Sure, you might 'prep' in 10 minutes, but you still have to COOK it after you prepare it.

edit: Occasionally I go and get food from the always delicious Taco Bell.
Do you just dislike cooking, haven't really tried cooking, don't have the appliances for cooking, or something else?

Cooking has turned into one of my favorite things to do.

Taco Bell and you tricked me into trying them again last Sunday with that $1 Box ad during the games. The one I went to was awful. Should be good for at least 5 years before I try that again, lol.

Taco Bell fun fact: A friend of mine is a managing director at an investment company that has various fast food franchisees in its portfolio including >100 Taco Bell locations. When I asked him what makes Taco Bell a better investment than other fast food restaurants he told me that you can make the full menu from not much more than 10 ingredients and all equipment is comparably cheap and easy to use. That way you eliminate almost all employment training which is a huge cost saver in a field with very high turnover.

man we did have fun back in the day. I would like to believe that he finally cracked the code and started printing money on roulette, got filthy rich and rode of into the sunset.

I have bought a small counter top convection oven because i always felled weird about switching on the oven for just a frozen pizza or small portion of something. If you have the space i can highly recommend that. The smaller devices heat up so much quicker.

I do almost all of the cooking in our house. While there is nothing I actively dislike about it, cooking gives me no more joy than any other normal activity like checking the mail. When people find out I'm the main cook, they often start talking about favorite recipes and stuff. I have to stop them and explain my entire repertoire is "I heat up meat, and then we eat it".

The All-inMcLovin account is often a parody onto itself.

If you're living in such a way that you can't take time to prepare/cook fresh healthy meals each day, then that sounds like a horrible way to live.
