Will do. Next time I drive it I’ll take some pictures. I have some old pictures I should scan one of these days. Taken back when I rattle canned it purple. Didn’t look too bad as long as you weren’t close. Learned quickly, in a small town and a purple car, you can’t get away with anything. Took it to Earl Scheib and got it painted black for $99.

For the uninitiated, that Earl Scheib paint job got you one color and they wouldn’t touch the car. Zero body work and basically no masking. If you didn’t want something that color, you had better mask it yourself. Chrome bumpers, rims etc.

Yeah, that was back when the system realized some of us were going to need to learn a trade or we’d die. We all weren’t cut out to be doctors and stuff. And if you lost a finger or two it was chalked up as bad luck. No lawyers needed.

We had auto shop, wood shop, welding and some other stuff I’m not remembering.

have always been fairly ambivalent about mickey rourke's work (other than the wrestler, which was amazing), but the way he thanked his dogs during his golden globe acceptance speech for the wrestler has made me a fan:

it's so heartfelt that i'm even going to give him a pass on the fact that they are chihuahuas rather than actual dogs.

his BAFTA acceptance speech is also worth watching, if only for his unique way of conveying his appreciation for marisa tomei. but the whole thing is solid:

The Wrestler and Sin City are the only movies I know him from.

Angel Heart and 9 1/2 weeks were amazing, haven’t seen either in probably 25 years though.

I have no idea if the acting was any good in 9 1/2 Weeks. All I remember is Kim Basinger was smokin'.

I'm gonna watch some old Mickey Rourke movies tonight and see what his deal is.

He was electric as the antagonist done wrong by Enrique and JLH. Such complexity and layering to an otherwise two-dimensional character.

Over the 30+ years I’ve owned it, I’ve had my hand on every single bolt, nut, screw and wire on that car. It’s not a showroom car but it’s a runner.
My first car was a 68 Cougar with a 289. What a great car.

Cougars were awesome. A fancy Mustang. Loved ‘em with their sequential turn signals and pop-up headlight doors. Plus, you can drop a 390 in it with room to spare.
