Lol. It’s a digital plate, which wasn’t activated yet. So we stuck the plate out of the trunk til it got activated in the cloud or wherever. Some dmv ****.

It’s a pretty cool new thing they’re rolling out this year. The digital plates come with an app that lets you customize the plate appearance and renew your registration via app. Very very cool.

Damn! Never heard of such. Sounds really cool*

*Not that I'm paranoid or anything, but is there a tracking capability?

Nope you’re not, it’s purely a vanity thing. I’ll know more when I see what a hassle the dmv stuff is. If it makes it easier than what I currently do - which tbh is already pretty easy - then I will be happy.

The one thing I hate is getting tags mailed to you. I always procrastinate or forget and end up in a funky period where I have expired tags but current registration for several weeks. And, I have had my tags stolen many times.

Curious how they're powered. I assume something like a watch battery that's easy to change.

Of course, I never look at my plates, and would get pulled over for no plates when I just need a new battery.

It’s a lithium ion battery, supposed to last for 5 years. It would be quite annoying if that broke though. However, you still have physical plates from the dmv, so you can always use those as backups.

PA got rid of tags two years ago, thankfully.

If you don't like tracking then might want to leave your phones at home, also if your car has nav then might want to keep it parked
