Interesting note: the battleship USS Iowa is the oldest battleship existing that could, theoretically, be returned to active service.

Seriously tho, I had the same thought as rr at the time. We're all rooting for you Johan. Well I don't know if that's true, but it sounds good.

If you made and saved $180,000 every single day from the day Jesus ****ing Christ was born until today, you would still have less money than Jeff Bezos.
05-02-2020 , 08:36 PM
Job creator!
05-02-2020 , 09:03 PM
Are you cacluating from 1AD? Most scholars assume Jesus was born between 6 and 4 BC. I bet those extra years drop Bezos down

Mrs. RG got pissed at some vermin that dug a hole in her flower bed. She made me stick a hose down the hole to drown them.

Moral: Don't piss off Mrs. RG.

The difference between a millionaire and billionaire is about a billion dollars.

My bootstraps must be malfunctioning.

Im not sure what any of that means.

Shocked.

Do you understand what "the future value of money" means?

Look it up, and calculate just $180,000 earned once, 2000 years ago (just use 5%, to be conservative)

Then calculate earning $180,000 EVERY DAY for 2000 years, and see what happens.

Math is fun.
05-02-2020 , 10:41 PM
That's clearly not the point. Gtfo.

The point is, 365.25 × 2020 x 180,000 = < Bezos.
05-02-2020 , 10:43 PM
My point was just that billionaires are such a mind-bogglingly different class of wealth. The ability to use their money to make more money has astounding momentum-- it's a rate that's virtually impossible for anyone else to achieve.

I'm going to make a wild guess that you suck at money.

What's your ****ing point guy?

Do you think this is an exercise in money, or numbers?
05-02-2020 , 10:48 PM
Yeah, I don't really see the "gotcha" here. It's obviously simplified, but still a staggering factoid regardless of inflation.
05-02-2020 , 10:51 PM
If Jesus had taken that $180,000 on the first day and bought in to Apple he'd be richer than Bezos now
05-02-2020 , 10:52 PM
Mary and Joseph would have claimed that **** well before the third day, bro.
