If these victims have to spend one dollar out of pocket for health care there is something seriously wrong the the US.

It's not unheard of plus given the circumstances they might only have to end up paying the doctor's fee.

Few != two.
CBS's source is the fund-raising website, which was set up by a friend of the victim and says:
Quote:
Caleb and his family have no insurance, and these hospital bills are going to be well into the hundreds of thousands if not millions.
An aside, that number did stick out at me, so I asked a surgeon, who said the costs will be around one million. They obviously have no familiarity with the guy's specific case though so maybe it will cost two or even a few million dollars.

I didn't correct it to be a dick; it just seems to me like people (especially non-American media) will latch onto the story as is relates to the popular American-healthcare-sucks narrative, and that feels unfair to me in this instance before anyone even sees a bill.

typical american logic: james holmes made $26k last year from a government sponsored stipend. therefore the gov't is sponsoring murder. therefore all phd stipends must end.

if i leave this country i think will enjoy seeing it go into the *****ter from its own idiocy

One of the people in the theater is suing over the attack:

CLICKY HERE

He is targeting:

1. The theater. Karpel claims it was negligent for the theater to have an emergency door in the front that was not alarmed or guarded. It's widely believed Holmes entered the theater with a ticket, propped the emergency door open from inside, went to his car and returned with guns.
2. Holmes' doctors. Karpel says it appears Holmes was on several medications -- prescribed by one or more doctors -- at the time of the shooting and he believes the docs did not properly monitor Holmes.

3. Warner Bros. Karpel says Dark Knight Rises was particularly violent and Holmes mimicked some of the action. The attorney says theater goers were helpless because they thought the shooter was part of the movie.

I understand the first one, emergency exits should be alarmed, although I am unsure what that would have changed, people are not going to flee a movie theater because some guy left through the emergency exit. I guess someone would have removed the prop holding the door open, but not like that should shut off the alarm.
The other two are just so absurd.

assuming that regardless of how absurd the last two reasons are, this will only gain momentum from others in the same situation.

Third one is definitely ridiculous and I can't see that one going anywhere. The second depends on what meds we're talking about.

Has an official statement been given as to why the dude looked completely out of his mind? Was he given sedatives? Or was he just on his usual medications?

For someone so obsessed with Batman, he didn't really think through the fact that he'd never get to see TDKR.

I'm personally convinced this whole tragedy is the result of self-experiments
with mind-altering drugs which he attained via his studium and that he would
be devastated by what he did if he somehow regained his former self again.
This is a guess, of course, but seems to be the most likely explanation for
this horrible and sudden change of personality.

This guy sure as hell has to be handed over to psychatry and a bloody tribunal
seems grossly inappropriate.

and what a real ****ing idiot this guy is:

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were called to a cinema complex in Norwalk after moviegoers said 52-year-old Clark Tabor shouted: "I should go off like in Colorado." They said he then asked: "Does anybody have a gun?"

Just for future reference- if you have to apologize and beg not to be banned before making your joke, that just means I know you know better and it only makes it worse.

I'm sure his lawyer can figure out a way for him to watch it under the guise of evidence.

I'd be perfectly fine with giving this guy the exact same sentence the actual shooter gets.

Background checks for people wanting to buy guns in Colorado jumped more than 41 percent after Friday morning's shooting at an Aurora movie theater, and firearms instructors say they're also seeing increased interest in the training required for a concealed-carry permit.

"It's been insane," Jake Meyers, an employee at Rocky Mountain Guns and Ammo in Parker, said Monday.

When he arrived at work Friday morning — just hours after a gunman killed 12 and injured 58 others at the Century Aurora 16 theater — there already were 15 to 20 people waiting outside the store, Meyers said.
