USA buys all their stuff from China and there's no way you'd ever think that it wouldn't make its way back to the USA. The world doesn't work like that. Anything this contagious is going global and they'd have to know that.

If you're going to tell me that the USA or China deliberately did this, I'm going to expect more than just some coincidences and I'm going to at least expect a remotely plausible theory as to motive. Because both countries are really hurting right now.

We know these kinds of animal->human transfers happen all the time. In fact most virologists basically said it was just a matter of time until something like this happened. It's in the movie Contagion. I posted the study from nature in which legit scientists think it's very unlikely this virus originated in a lab.

So on the one hand you have something scientists were predicting was going to happen, which originated in a market that sells bushmeat, which under scientific examination looks extremely likely to have had natural origins, and no reasonable motive exists for either the US or China to do this to themselves.

And on the other hand you have some coincidences that look fishy like the US having a lab outside Wuhan.

I'm down with accidental release of a bat virus someone was studying. Seems very plausible.

There's like 95% of the universe who thinks 'you can't beat the stock market' [meaning anyone] when there's literally mountains of verifiable evidence that one can beat the stock market. It's just really hard.

So is becoming a pro athlete but no one says that's impossible.

Yet it's impossible to convince most intelligent people that the stock market can be beaten. No amount of evidence provided will convince them, a few will think Buffett is merely the lone exception to the rule. It's not like Jim Simons and Dan Loeb, et al, are unheard of either.


My good friend who's worked at NIH as a researcher for ~15 years, Columbia med school trained, thinks the virus came from the Wuhan lab either accidentally or on purpose.

It's certainly not proof but to act like only conspiracy theorists think that way is totally false. And I'd be willing to wager she knows more about it than those of us posting itt.
