lbr - I alluded to it being wrong, not weird. Stuff like this is why foatie and Rexx are both ahead of you!

I think lbr has the right of this, chop. Hot sauce on pizza is a little offbeat and I wouldn’t be likely to do it, but it strikes me as being within a range of legitimate preferences. It’s not like she’s grilling babies or espousing Nazi ideology or anything; it’s just a little hot sauce.

What’s her complaint about Canadians, anyway?
03-12-2018 , 07:46 AM
Not in eggs they're not.
03-12-2018 , 08:15 AM
She should have just got a pizza with chilli on it. Of course hot sauce on pizza is wrong and I am a big fan of hot sauce.

In other news somehow I have managed to get sunburnt which is even more wrong than hot sauce on pizza. Stupid Australian sun.

Lbr,

Have you had any curried egg sandwiches yet? I love those but don't end up making them very often.

I thought the point was that she put it on every slice, not that hot sauce on pizza is gross. This is just chop bragging about going on a date though.
03-12-2018 , 08:50 AM
lbr - if I had been bragging, I would have mentioned the other girl with us as well. But not the other dude. Because then you would have figured out it wasn't a date. Other girl has a super hot Botswanan accent tho, never heard anything like it before, even in Botswana. And she didn't put lol hot sauce on her pizza - she pulled an avocado out of her pocket, cut it up with her dive knife, and topped her slices with that. Now that's chop-approved, I tell you what.

DOGS - that they are rude and horrible. It's literally right there in the post. This is why you are not even in contention and are watching from the sidelines.

I certainly understand rudeness and horror, but normally when one complains about something for an extended period of time, they give specific examples to support their position. For example, she might have said that Canadians generally are rude. I had a date with one once, and he posted to a group of his online buddies that I put hot sauce on my pizza.

Examples like that would permit objective readers to determine if her complaints were valid, as opposed to chop overreacting to a little hot sauce.

A long-time Toronto psychiatrist, who believes homosexuality is a “sexual disorder” that can be overcome, has been found guilty by Ontario’s medical regulator of sexually abusing two of his male patients.

Dr. Melvyn Iscove, 72, was described in a decision of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario’s discipline committee as having a “special interest in the treatment of patients with problems related to homosexuality.”

He also engaged in mutual masturbation and oral sex with two male patients on different occasions during therapy sessions, and once had anal intercourse with one of them in his office, the committee found.

“Neither complainant described any emotional or romantic aspects of the sexual activity with Dr. Iscove, and both said that at some point, they thought that the sexual activity was part of the therapy and an attempt to cure them of homosexuality by engaging in the acts, rather than fantasizing about them,” the five-member discipline panel wrote in a decision released this week.

Theories on homosexuality being an illness have long been discredited — the World Health Organization removed it from its list of mental illnesses in 1992 — and in 2015, Ontario became the first province to ban so-called “conversion therapy” that purported to change an individual’s sexuality.

As for Iscove, he denied the sexual abuse allegations, which mostly date back to the 1990s and early 2000s. His licence was immediately suspended after the guilty findings pending a penalty hearing that has yet to be scheduled.

During a penalty hearing, doctors found to have had sex with a patient automatically lose their licence.

“We're both very disappointed with the result, obviously,” said Iscove’s lawyer, Alfred Kwinter. “Dr. Iscove has always denied the allegations, he continues to do so, and he's seriously considering an appeal.”

I don’t imagine that’s a particularly Canadian issue, although I must admit precious little engagement with things Canadian. Conversion therapy seems generally idiotic to me, although I don’t see why it should be banned. Do we ban psychics or Scientologists or other charlatans of various sorts? Would someone on the left please articulate why a ban makes sense here? I don’t intend to tee up a politard argument, but I know very little about this and would like to understand the rationale.

Conversion therapy is more kidnapping and/or abuse than reading tea leaves and invisible sky friend. Um. Duh.

So, is that good or bad?
03-12-2018 , 10:32 AM
It's banned insofar as you can't bill taxpayers for it and you can't do it to kids. Your hick country still debates paying for abortions and maternity leave so I don't think there's a lot of Americans on board with higher taxes for ppl to scar their own children.
03-12-2018 , 10:43 AM
I'm not getting dragged into that, lol.

Those sorts of bans seem fine to me. Conversion therapy under compulsion seems really bad to me, but if I as a 54-year old adult wanted to go through that on a purely voluntary basis, i would imagine that’s okay.

BTW, the issue was in Canada, not USA#1. Do they use excessive hot sauce in the Canadian version of conversion therapy? Perhaps this is the root of chop’s objection.

I am no Scientology expert, but I am quite sure the Scientologists have been involved in a fair number of kidnapping episodes.

I'm sure you can find an easier way to explore any latent homosexual tendencies.

The best sandwich bracket discussion thread has 295 posts in three days. Last year's Ms OOT nomination thread had 285 posts (not including posts after the nominations were closed). RIP Ms OOT.

I’m not conflicted about whatever of those tendencies I may or may not have. I imagine some people are. I can’t imagine ever wanting to undergo conversion therapy, but I can imagine some people who do want to.

Oreo - don't blame Ms OOT for Rexx being a better poster than you, it's unbecoming.

Looks like we agree on who needs to run Ms OOT next year.

Just got my first jury summons. They said the best they can do is postpone it and send me another one in a couple months. Is there a limit on doing that?

In California you can only do it once and then you are required to heed the next one.

Colorado but I'm sure it's the same. I can go visit my mom at least.
