It really doesn’t matter what an online menu says.

#1, I was there, and my memory is excellent. I remember there being seven.

#2, I also remember the menu SAYING seven! Easily could have been changed recently in print but not online.

#3, after we ate, I chatted w el D and said to him that we ate 28 dumplings and some fish stew thing. This was before anyone was talking numbers in this thread.

Shkreli is bring made an example of because he's an easy target who not only spoke truth to power, he also thumbed his nose at it at the same time.

He is (was?) an arrogant egotistical ass who thought he was rich enough to say whatever he wanted, until he pissed off enough people who are rich enough to make the legal system do whatever they want it to.

It's not fair what happened to him, but it's completely standard.

If you look at what he actually did, rather than what the media distorts, the sentence is way out of line with his actual crime. It's for being "Pharma Bro", which he isn't and never was. The price jacking was to screw the insurance companies, not Joe Six-pack. He gave the drug away for free to people without insurance. When interviewed, he explained how screwed up the USA#1 insurance system is and how he was just being honest about how he was taking advantage of that. The emperor did not like being told he has no clothes.

The media ran with the distorted Pharma Bro narrative, people bought it hook, line, and sinker because they wanted an evil pharma overlord to blame, and Shkreli screwed himself by choosing to just troll everyone during the whole thing, thinking he had enough money to protect himself from the consequences of pissing off powerful people.

I agree with all of that. It is puzzling to me that he didn’t see the writing on the wall long ago in regards to the narrative that had formed, and continued trolling. Notably, his satirical bounty on Hillary Clinton’s hair was mentioned by the judge before sentencing.

It’s hard to believe that his rebellious behavior was well thought out, because he sobbed and whined quite a lot when the sentencing was actually about to be carried out.

Something I read today that I didn’t know, is that federal prisoners have no possibility of parole. The most he can get off his sentence is 6 months for good behavior.

I wonder what the prison conditions are like? It hardly seems humane to me to have a financial criminal sharing a living space with violent gang members and such. I feel the same about drug offenders. Anyone with any humanity when they go in would probably have little to none left after 7 years in that environment.

He has several mental health issues that he let get out of control. Hopefully he can take this time to learn more about himself and control his mind.

6 years really isn't that long. He should be in a very low security prison and not have a bad time in terms of violence, etc.

His mental health issues are most of what make him such an easy target. Also, his smirk.

The reaction to the Shkreli sentencing reminds me very much of the initial US reaction to the decision to invade Iraq. Lots of ignorance-based emotion, very little fact-based analysis. Media-driven manufactured & channeled outrage. Irrational misplaced vindictiveness. Laser focus on the completely wrong target. Almost no one pointing out how wrong and irrational all of this is.

LOOOOOOOOL chop, even though I largely agree with the merits points on Iraq and definitely or Shkreli after reading more about him overnight.

i came here for the lapka outburst and you guys are politarding

We’re at least not letting it devolve into silly arguments. I don’t think the Shkreli discussion is essentially political.

What else can I do with these eggs?
03-10-2018 , 02:16 PM
Egg saklad.
03-10-2018 , 02:51 PM
lbr,

There's lots of things you could do, but why would you do anything except more and more and more deviled eggs?

Just get some different condiments/spices and each batch will be a whole new version of deviled egg deliciousness!

LBR,

Scotch eggs mmmmmmm

- fill them with either caviar or cod liver dependent on your budget.

Now I'm imagining LBR rolling down I-80, reading OOT, popping caviar filled eggs in his mouth, while listening to this:

That sandwich thread makes me extremely jealous, IME European sandwich game is pretty damn weak. I wonder why that is because we do like our sandwiches, just super bland and kinda lame. Its telling that (iirc) the only European sandwich was a jambon beurre which, lets be honest, isn't anything really special. I'd love to try a lobster roll or some of those asian sandwiches or a good bbq sandwich.
03-11-2018 , 11:09 AM
Yeah, I'd never even heard of a muffaletta before that thread. Sounds amazing.
03-11-2018 , 11:11 AM
Yak, you guys have doner kebabs though. Also the belegd broodje, whatever the **** that is.

All you need for an amazing sandwich is a George Foreman grill.
03-11-2018 , 11:15 AM
And some hard boiled eggs.
03-11-2018 , 11:19 AM
Lbr,

Maybe we can get some wagering going around here.

03-11-2018 , 11:22 AM
Okay, I'll bet $100 that I can't.
03-11-2018 , 11:26 AM
If that's the case, it seems like you got a little over excited about getting 100 eggs.
03-11-2018 , 11:38 AM
Pickled eggs are great
