The Hot for Teacher thread went 2 1/2 months without a post. Who cares if it gets derailed, people aren't exactly lining up to post new stories. But patron's derail has already been done in that thread, probably more than once, so there's no need to have it again. In general derails are fine in most threads, as long as the topic is at least as interesting as the rest of the thread.

Patron,

That was a lot of words.

Alright, tomorrow, Chinatown. What’s the place and time? Gourmet dumping house or dumpling cafe? Noon?

El D,

Yeah, I have that problem sometimes.

Gourmet Dumpling House
52 Beach St, Boston, MA 02111

12:00 is fine with me.

27, that place is closed this Thursday for renovations.

Sorry, guess you'll have to wait until this coming Thursday.

No...but many reviews say always crowded at lunch and a little small. May want to try to beat the lunch crowd by 30, but up to you guys.

Some were even talking line out the door. We shall see. Post-snowpocalypse will probably help our cause either way.

It was really packed when I went there next Thursday.

Jack Thomas - Longsleeve Duck Yoke - Evergreen

I mean, the duck is on the part that isn't the yoke. The yoke is very clearly outlined by seams and has no decoration on it. This is duck anti-yoke.

Regarding things that burn your mouth that haven't been mentioned, McDonalds apple pie burnt the buggery out of my mouth as a teen. Actually pies in general can be a little dangerous

Melted sugar can be exceedingly hot.

Ok, someone needs to ask.

Patron, are you Microbob?

I don't disagree, and I only learned about this kind of yoke today! I suggest you take it up with Jack Thomas and Google Image Search!

I think I'm supposed to take offense to that, right? I don't have a strong opinion of Microbob from what I remember, except maybe he was too wordy, is that the reason for the reference?

I’m sad.

I’ve lost my house. Well, lost may be too strong, I have been well compensated. I am the victim of eminent domain to build a bypass. It has been a long time coming but the day is drawing near. I must move in May.

The positive part of that, is I am having a custom home built beginning construction in June. The sucky part of is, I need a place to live for the next year.

I am moving into an apartment on May 1st. I have never lived in an apartment and the thought sickens me. So many people, noise, small space.

No point to the post, it is just starting to hit me that the day is drawing near. The one positive is that I got about 30% above market value for the house. I thought I would die in this house. Hopefully, I’ll live long enough to die in my new house, not a goddamn apartment.

Any suggestions or tips from apartment dwellers?

I enjoy living in an apartment, its like being in a hotel everyday
03-08-2018 , 12:52 AM
poker,

There is a place off the highway in my town that used to have a thriving garden supply business with a residence on site that was taken by eminent domain as well, and it has been sitting there abandoned for probably three years now. That really sucks man.

My tip would be stay on top of construction costs and be present.

1st world problem. Suck it up seriously. Apartment dwellers learn to mind their own business. It's easily the most important rule.

My suggestion is make sure you dont live downstairs from a unit that has 4 adults and 5 kids living in it, and that has their entire extended family and all the kid's friends come over every ****ing weekend, along with some weeknights, to have a goddamn karaoke party.

And not a quiet karaoke party.
The kind where you hear every ****ing syllable of every ****ing Justin Bieber song, and where the bass from their stereo rattles the pictures on your walls.

And where they stomp up and down the stairs nonstop until 2am and smoke in your entry way right in front of your fr9nt door.

Ya, dont live under people like that.

And what cs3 said.

Pokeraz,

I'm sorry you are being forced to move when you are really happy where you are. How long have you lived there? Make sure you take lots of photos when you leave and if you can, take something from the house that will remind you of the old one in your new house. I dug up bulbs and brought them with me. Your situation reminded me of a really good Aussie movie The Castle.

If it's one year for certain, I don't think I'd unpack/unbox much.

Is Sgt RJ ok? I haven't seen her in a very long time. I think OOT is a better place when she is posting. Would be nice if Villian popped in also. Plus the guy who moved from Britain to Estonia? I'm having a memory block with his name but I really enjoyed his posting.

I bought this house in 1999. So, 19 years I have been here. The mortgage was fully paid in 2014. In 2015, after a lot of speculation, it started to become clear that this was the path of the bypass.

It isn’t the end of the world, of course. But I really did think, this was my last stop. I raised two children in this house. And to think that its destiny is to be bulldozed for a highway is sad.

There is a part of me that is excited for some change. I’m just not looking forward to the intermediate step between this house and the next.

I don’t know why it hit me so hard today, but it did. Maybe it’s because I am knee deep into a bottle of laphroaig.
