I'm starting to think our national news media is insensitive. They don't need to keep showing the scene of people getting shot at and running for their lives over and over again.

God this is gross, this was a slaughter. It's not natural instinct to look up for a threat like that; I can only imagine the horror of everyone running around not knowing which way is safe or not as people get shot around you.

I'm still not hearing anything about why this guy did this, no clear red flags or anything that's been discovered yet.

Hard to imagine that a older white dude would have a political agenda that would provoke him to attack a country western music festival.

Maybe he had large gambling losses and he extracted revenge against the casinos by shooting up the music festival.

Also, how many of those people were injured/killed from bullets or from being trampled by panicked audience members?
This. LOL at this guy being in ISIS. The guy probably torched millions on video poker, which BTW is easy to do at 100 a hand. Took out his emotional frustration by shooting up an innocent crowd of people and crap on Vegas tourism at the same time.

The liberal media will never admit this bc gambling revenue draws ad money from several different avenues. ZOMG must be domestic terrorism

freeeedommmm deeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

ya civilians should never have these guns, none in canada and shockingly no mass shootings have ever happened with assault rifles!

its almost like when civilians dont have assault rifles, mass shootings dont occur.

But you don't just amass that kind of gun stash overnight, especially if you blew your wad and have nothing left. On the black market 10 rifles of what is being reported have to cost a small fortune, so it doesn't seem like a whim or spur of the moment type thing.

Given this happened in Vegas, and this forum's relationship with the city, and likely having many members who were potentially directly affected by this, I'm gonna leave this thread, but if you post badly you might get banned. Fair warning.
Throughout OOT's history all the terrible news event threads always had terrible posting and politards sprinkled in. Just ban the posters, don't lock the threads.

I think police have recovered 19 guns including the ones they found at his home in Mesquite. And fully-automatic guns are expensive and troublesome to acquire legally, and you'd have to be pretty committed to acquire or convert them illegally for that matter.

Shooter supposedly played $100/hand video poker as a "pro"

Dan Bilzerian based on his instagram was there and a girl in front of him took a direct shot to the head

that pretty much nixes the degen gambler argument as he could have sold all of those guns for a quick 20k.

Aside from the shooter, the most enraging toolbag in all of this is the ******* standing up with his arms open yelling "Come and get some you ****ing pussy!!1!.." while literally dozens of people are around him cowering on the ground.

Just a ****ing ******* that needs a serious beating. I hope he is identified.

Firing automatic (?) weapons into what was basically a solid mass of thousands of people is going to cause a lot of deaths really quickly. Just one bullet can easily kill/injure several. As someone above mentioned, these are weapons of war.

According to what?

All the sources I see say that it started at 10:08 and police reported suspect was down at 11:58 pm.

If you are playing $100 video poker 20k isn't that much.

He would already have had to plan all that since the guns were already with him. I wonder if they will publicize what gambling he did that weekend and if he was down.

500+ hit. Amazing.
Run. There's nowhere to hide from a shooter with the high ground. So you run and hope you don't get hit. A body won't really protect you that much. Plus, puts you at risk of getting trampled.

Yeah he's just aiming at the densest group of people so get away from that as fast as possible. Off course in the moment this isn't obvious at all.

I’m with you on this. I could only take it for a minute or two this morning before work. I can’t believe they just keep replaying and replaying all that video. It is disgusting. It serves no decent purpose at all.

Not knowing any info, I would go with a gambling debt. $100 a hand at video poker is insane. Even at perfect play, you are looking at losing thousands a day. There is no such thing (I think) as a long-term video poker player.

So far outside the profile-realm. 64-years old and living in a retirement community.

This. A million times this.

Choosing the "lock the thread" approach instead of the "ban the people ruining the thread" approach is absolutely moronic. All it does is guarantee you will always be locking these threads since you never get rid of the actual problem, which is the people who are ruining the threads.

It blows my mind that people have difficulty understanding this concept.

The politards haven't shown up in force yet but they'll be here soon enough, it is inevitable. They always show up, and the thread always gets locked. Then the exact same thing happens next time because of the moronic "lock the thread" approach being chosen over "ban those ****ers".
