I got a notice from Costco that a salami sampler I bought in December had been recalled because of Salmonella.

First, if I hadn't eaten it wouldn't it be dangerous by now regardless? What's the point of sending someone a recall notice in February on a perishable food product that was purchased in December?

Second, Costco keeps track of what I buy? I guess it shouldn't surprise me, but I wonder what kind of privacy policy I've agreed to. Certainly law enforcement would have access to this stuff. So, helpful murder tip of the day - if you're going to kill somebody don't do it or dispose of the body with anything purchased at Costco.

**** like what LFS is discussing is why I as a guy who doesn't break many laws really can't get worked up about purchase tracking. I've had friends who refused Safeway cards and **** because it bothered them (equally if not more law abiding friends).

I'd much rather know that I got some bad sausage than be worried that the government is going to use my cheeto purchase frequency to figure out I'm a pothead.

Yes, they track everything but they have a pretty strict privacy policy. The upside is that you can return stuff without a receipt because they can look iy up.

Arrested Development w/ laugh track

As someone who hates laugh tracks and loves Arrested Development this proves nothing. AD has a joke every 5 seconds, so if there was a laugh after every joke it would constant background noise. The best example they could use would be Sports Night, which used a laugh track in the first couple episodes at the insistence of ABC, but took it out after a couple episodes. The laugh track is poorly edited it in so it will sound bad, Seinfeld has a laugh track and it wouldn't be particularly better or worse with out it.

The costco thing is really no big deal. It isn't like LE is getting access to it without a pretty specific warrant.

The corner is pretty good but it is nbd to me if you haven't watched it.

I own The Corner DVDs, because I loved the book.

I have never been able to watch it. Knowing the book, it just seems too unpleasant to watch.

No, oddly, I did not. For those of you not familiar with his work, that douchebag's OOT debut was his single-handed attempt to change the "Buddy Owes Money to Drug Dealers" thread into "marty's quitting dope log". He is truly atrocious - I think I might dislike him as much as I disliked luckyjimm, and that's a LOT.
