Practiced at manipulation, maybe. Far more practiced than the average person. But actually intelligent? I don't see why there'd be a correlation between being a sociopath and being intelligent.

you probably shouldn't get your knowledge of psychological disorders from movies. they can be highly intelligent but they can also be average or dumb.

Yes, some of the lower iq posters around here like to throw that around as if it somehow refutes everything i say. I fail to see what that has to do with the topic at hand, and you also have very little clue about what ASPD actually is.

All, you seem to think my contempt of anna and taking of WVU's side in this situation (I seriously don't see how you can't, the guy obviously did not try to sell her photos) as me clearing him of all wrongdoing ever.

As I've said multiple times, the reason I think WVU comes off better itt is because he doesn't profess to be anything other than what he is. Yes, he's a drug addict, yes he has DUI's, yes he doesn't work, etc. Meanwhile just about every detail about Anna's life that she's given has been exaggerated or a falsehood. She's condescending to posters here and is extremely attention seeking.

fwiw, I think jmakin has been pretty spot on with Anna. It makes sense that he would have a better understanding, since he is presumably more knowledgeable about personality disorders. By mother is bpd, and everything that has come out about Anna certainly rings true to me (as far as Anna being bpd). Best thing you can do is get away from these people.

Don't get the hate for WVU. He has his issues (and I don't believe anyone isn't acknowledging that), but he has been pretty good in handling the whole situation as it has escalated. Yeah, he made some initial bad decisions, but I haven't seen him exaggerate or dodge the truth. Amich has clearly been the aggressor and has told numerous lies. She also has far, far more work to do in order to normalize her life. In fact, really no one should hate either side. It's been great entertainment.

WVU is very sensitive to his internet rep, which is why he gets angsty when I call him out. I've never seen a guy more concerned about his internet rep. I guess if he plays poker full time/gets staking that's somewhat understandable, but it's pretty extreme (and funny). The Internet is more important to WVU than his gf.

That's not to say he's bad person (he seems like he'd be a good friend), but that last sentence is responsible for most the trainwreck and associated hilarity. Anna wouldn't even post here (or have started this thread) unless that was true. He wouldn't have encouraged her to meet 2p2ers. etc. The circular genius of this thread is that the guy basically trainwrecked himself on a crazy girl because he cared so much about his reputation on here...

it's limited - I don't know to what degree I have a personality disorder, it was from a very early session 1.5 years ago with my therapist where he kinda casually mentioned me fitting the diagnostic criteria. We haven't talked about it much. I definitely lack empathy towards strangers in general, unless I'm able to personally relate to a situation on a strong level.

Well, for one thing he's diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, not "sociopathy".

People with ASPD definitely have difficulty taking another's point of view (meaning they have difficulty empathizing) but as with all things, there are degrees of how much any one person is effected by this.

Also (correct me if I'm wrong jmakin) I thought he has been in therapy for this and would probably have received some help in making interpersonal connections and essentially learning how to empathize.

See, there you go. He's mentioned he has some experience dealing with "crazy" women, which in his case sounds like it's enough for him to empathize in a situation he might not otherwise give a crap.
