Life-choice.
I currently live in the Netherlands, Amsterdam. I am 18 years and last year of high school. Now my parents already moved to Turkey(I'm also turkish). And they want me to come along when I finish school. They are not rich but they will place me in one of the most respected universities in Istanbul with a yearly pay, I will get an house and a steady income of 500 euro a month. The university is full of rich kids. Let me put it this way:

benefits:
-Own house at a very nice location
-Rich Social circle (obviously for poker purposes)
-Steady income of 500 euro
-Rich girls
-Istanbul

sacrifices:
-Lifetime Social circle
-Legal poker (Holland Casino)
-Leaving Amsterdam
-easy dutch girls

Variance: changing lifetime education in Amsterdam to an education in Istanbul and if I can adapt to it and finish it

What do we do? Stay or Go?

if you go, will there be trouble?

You should leave.

1) For half of the country here you'll always be a second-rate citizen no matter what you do, whereas you might be able to build a bright future in Turkey.
2) Always nice to have your family around you.
4) I'm sure your parents would be prouder of you going to the Istanbul University than to Holland Casino in Amsterdam.

My father is okay with me playing poker. He has seen me play and knows I have the self-discipline to not go overboard. My mother on the other hand.. Yeah no good.

Should poker even be a factor in this decision???

Is it impossible to go for university and then return home? Istanbul is an awesome place, sounds like you will have a good support network but will also get to be independent.

The offer your parents are making sounds great, but only if you have the option of returning home when you're done. And if getting a degree from a Turkish university is a huge negative in the Netherlands, that complicates the decision.

OOT for things like this, especially when they sail over the heads of others.

That's a pun, but the clash line wasn't. Technically. Perhaps he should be pun-ished regardless.

OP, from what I hear, Amsterdam is cool, and Turkey blows.

I had to google for it, wasnt sure if it was, but it seems to meet the definition?

"The pun, or paronomasia, is a form of word play which suggests two or more meanings, by exploiting multiple meanings of words, or of similar-sounding words, for an intended humorous or rhetorical effect."

if its not a pun, what would you call it?

Go, AINEC.

Why is poker even remotely involved in this decision?

Your parents are well off and want to send you to one of the top universities. Human capital there >>>>>> your short-term poker earnings.

Seriously, too many people are using poker while weighing life decisions like these. Stop.

Yes my dutch nationality will stay alive, so I can return. But yeah a Turkish degree is in fact a negative in the Netherlands but I think the university would make up for that? So it wouldn't be too much of a negative..? If someone has more info on this let me know.

I mean, it's just a witticism or something. A pun involves a deliberate confusion of similar sounding words. But using the verb "clash" properly, to refer to a song by a band of the same name, isn't a pun.

Examples of puns:

A bicycle can't stand alone because it is two-tired.

A backward poet writes inverse.

A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion.

When a clock is hungry it goes back four seconds.

When you've seen one shopping center you've seen a mall.

Or, to bring this back home - whether he stays or goes, OP's going to university and that means he'd better start studying for clash.

you should go for sure man. new experiences are almost always good ones. i dont see any reason to stay and part from your family. and i dont think poker should affect your life decisions. plus like you said you could easily set up a cash game with a bunch of rich donk kids. you may even be more proitable then you are now. a supplied monthly income and free tuition to a nice university outweighs playing poker at a casino forsure. plus you can make decent money getting those home games going. GOOOO!!!!

Go imo.

Life experience man, and you can always come back. I am not sure if a good Turkish university is worse then a Dutch one. Maybe its smart to study in English though?

Succes ermee!

If its a choice between going to school in Turkey or Netherland, you should probably stay. If its a choice between college in Turkey and playing cards in Netherland, then you should go.
